First of all, I like to give a genuine review, not just a 5 star if I liked it and 1 star if I didn't. We ate as a family of four. On arriving we were shown to a table, the room was a little cold and I almost put my jacket back on to eat. We were immediately told they didn't have there speciality the Flat Iron Steak. We were also then told we had to go order our own food, pick up our own sauces and get our own forks and knives after our food had arrived. The service is McDonalds standard, the food twice the price. When a steak house do not have their speciality at 6.50pm on a Tuesday, it's bad management. However, we had sat down so didn't want to leave. I decided to go with the TBone 16oz Steak @ £19.95, I guess it must have been 16oz, but didn't look it. I asked for Medium Rare, it was cooked to medium and had very little red left in it. I would give it taste wise, about 7 out of 10. I had a side order of their hand cut chips, or in real terms, a very small amount medium quality chips put in a little metal cup to make it look bigger. I also had roasted vegetables, or in real terms a small cup of soggy veg. These were well below par and I didn't even finish them, neither did anyone in the family. The kids did not moan about anything but gave their burgers 5 out of 10 and they got hardly any chips and would not touch the veg and just a spoonful of Mac'n'cheese. The wife enjoyed her burger and stated it was very tasty. But also did not like the veg or her sweet potato side.
Overall - Very, Very small portions - I'm still hungry and wanted a big mac on the away home. Soggy Veg! Poor service or no service (pleasant, but can't believe you would bring out a meal and not bring knives or forks). Best dish not in stock and meat ok but side appalling. Expensive fast food made to look like a proper restaurant with steak that tasted ok. Not...
Read moreArrived today with my wife and 2 teenage children, which was booked last week for a pre Christmas treat. We all wanted to order the "bottomless munch". We were told by the waitress that u18's were not allowed to have this! We questioned why, even though they would only be having soft drinks (obviously) and the menu small print also stated no alcohol for u18s ( again obviously), nowhere on the menu small print does it state u18s cannot order a bottomless munch. We then decided that the teens could order off the menu and my wife and I will order the bottomless munch, to be told again we cannot order the bottomless munch as everyone on the table has to order the same thing!
The waitress said she will check with the Manager. Next thing the "Manager" struts over, saying you "wanted to see me?", no not really, he then repeats the waitresses statements, even though the menu small print does not exclude u18's from a bottomless munch nor does it state that everyone has to order the same thing. I have never heard of such ridiculousness and idiocrisy, the Manager just kept stating "it's the policy" but could not explain the reason why when asked. This is clear discrimination to us as a mixed aged family, terms and conditions are not clear and we felt the staff could not clearly communicate a valid reason for refusing the offer, we feel that this was a underhanded ploy to coerce us into ordering off the main menu plus drinks, at a higher cost to us. We decided to leave due to the abysmal customer service and ate else where.
Would love to be able give an honest rating on the food, but couldn't even get that far, one star for service and one for atmosphere as the staff created a negative one. Be warned if you want to go as a table...
Read moreYesterday before the theatre Nottingham me and a friend decided to go to Son of steak in Nottingham. My friends meal which he said was one of the best steaks he had ever had, mine unfortunately the 20oz T Bone (£35) was just so below standard that i had to complain. Being late for the theatre I ate the food which was cooked much less than I had requested (medium rare).
When the lovely girl who was serving asked how the food was I promised myself I wouldn’t complain but just simply had to as the feedback is important. I told her I ate it due to being late but wasn’t happy how it was cooked and my experience was spoilt so the management offered 20% off which I felt was rather unfair. £7 off a meal that left me with a poor experience was something I’d felt was sub standard so requested 50% and this was accepted.
Just as a bit of feedback also, try cutting a steak on your tables the tables wobble everywhere your drinks are all over. I sat on the high table next to the till.
If the server wasn’t so great infact the two girls working this it would have been given a 1star but I’ll give it 3 for how helpful the two girls was and how accommodating they was whilst serving. And the fact you did refund 50 percent.
I’m sure if I was to come back and order a steak which was easier to cook an 8-10oz steak then I would have loved it but as reading your reviews the two expensive steaks I would suggest to customers to stay away from for a good experience.
Sorry to have to write this as I would love to praise your company as you see I give reviews often and always normally positive. But this I’m sure you agreed with is just not the experience or standard you should wish to...
