Just what we needed: a warm welcome and an excellent lunch. It was a chilly day in April and we were keen for an early lunch before spending the day exploring Oxford. We'd heard about Chick Pea via a friend so we decided to give it ago.

We arrived around Midday, it was pleasingly busy at early lunch time, which is always a good sign.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, a really clear menu full of quality veggie options. We could see the staff working away in the open kitchen behind (always reassuring). The deli counter was abundant with salads, sides and interesting sauces. My Mum and I ordered a different salad each (I went large as I was rather peckish). Salads were assembled and items such as grilled halloumi and falafel are cooked fresh to order. So we grabbed a table and our food arrived as soon as it was ready. We clearly timed our visit well as we were able to get a table and we could see the place getting busier by the second.

The staff were just delightful, they are so engaged with their business that their passion for food is clear in the quality and eagerness to give you a good meal (and maybe an extra falafel!).

Condiments are on a counter with cutlery and drinking water, you can help yourself, and it's the kind of place where you can be a good citizen and clear your table yourself, great idea, increases table turnover and reduced staff burden, after all, we are adults!

Portions were great, prices were spot on, and the quality was top notch. Great find, we...

Pure joy on a plate – no exaggeration!

The food here was one of the highlights of my stay in Oxford. As a vegan it’s so hard getting a decent meal in a casual setting but this place is like an oasis. I was practically salivating watching the person in front of me having their order made. The guy serving (seemed like owner/manager?) was so lovely and let me select a bit of everything.

Food was 10/10 for freshness, flavour, nutrition and variety. The pics speak for themselves, and what is shown only cost me £10 odd (including kombucha), which is a steal for sitting in eating such wholesome food. Falafel was also top notch. I got spicy sauce but could’ve tolerated more heat, though didn’t miss anything because the flavours were POW.

Overall, if I lived here I’d probably be in this place several times a week. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the chef was also super friendly. Keep up the magic, CHICK PEA. you’ve got something...

This is what a good lunch spot looks like: it has received positive ratings, they prepared it quickly, and most importantly, it was delicious. This is exactly what I was looking for on this particular day; something fresh and quick was just what I needed. During my time in Oxford, I went to a number of places, particularly for lunch, and I discovered that many of them were a little disappointing. This one, on the other hand, was definitely a pleasing difference. This was an excellent meal. Most of the time, I rarely eat falafel, and when I do, it is typically too seasoned or too oily for my liking. To my delight, ChickPea was able to fulfill my wants of being a little less heavy while still being sufficient in terms of its ability to satisfy hunger. I highly recommend this lunch spot to anyone looking for a quick bite to...

a really excellent spot for vegetarian lunch in oxford! my friend and i had falafel bowls, which we felt were good value at £8.50. there is seating indoors and outdoors which all looked great; the space was aesthetically pleasing. we sat outdoors and the side street that Chick Pea is located on was fairly quiet and pleasant. the service style is that you order at the counter: you can have it to eat in or take away, you pick mild/medium/hot spice level, you choose which salad components to include (i wasnt quite sure what everything was and the server explained them clearly) and they put the bowl together as you do that, and then you pay and collect some cutlery before you seat yourself
