The CAFE:BAR by Benugo at John Lewis — Restaurant in Oxford

Not sure if Benugo is at fault here but it was the last day to avail John Lewis's buy one get one scone and cream tea offer. There was a long queue as everyone wanted to get the offer redeemed so they were running out of scones. That's understandable. But what made me unhappy is that I'd to choose from sweets and tea options which were really substandard, cold and dry, unappetizing and still ended up paying quite a bit despite the offer. If I've to pay nearly 9 quid for pastries I disliked and apparently when one of them was free, it seems like such a rip off. Please see the photo of the two baby wipes after wiping down only half our table in this cafe. I fed my 11 month old son in a highchair at the table and it only occurred to me half way through that I should probably wipe it down myself, with covid being so rife. I was SHOCKED to see the dirt..! Are tables not being cleaned at all now? You'd expect hygiene to be a priority at all times, but even more so currently - this level of grime suggests this table hasn't been properly cleaned for a long time. I'm giving two stars instead of one because of the convenience and nice coffee/sandwiches we had...

Myself, family and colleagues have tried all coffee shops within the Westgate.

We now have adopted the Benugo coffee bar.

Fantastic service makes up for the slightly over priced menu.

Although the coffee is absolutely FANTASTIC.
