Unfortunatley we try to love the Victoria but its so hit and miss that i've given up on it.
The pub and decore are great and the foods not bad when served hot, plus pretty good value.
The table policy or lack of though ie....having to fight with pople who are drinking for your owned reserved table when you eat is a joke...
Made worse by the biggest problem in the whole place the staff and their attitude; Its your problem you sort it out...The mangement come accross as quiet arrogant when approached and have a take it or leave it attitude.
Except the guy who waits on the tables seems to run whole resturant by himself dosn't stop.
The bar staff however are horrendous they run round like headless chickens serving who ever they want when they want.its basically take it or leave it. For gods sake dont complain or you wont get served or chucked out seen it done.
For such a large bar 25/35 mins to get served on a weekend is just very bad management. Then to be out of your best selling Ales on weekend come on... They call it an antigastro pub it should be called an anticustomer service pub...
If I was lucky enough to own this place, sack this lot and recruit from some of the other local pubs within five minutes you can walk into similar and better pubs and get serrved in...

Unfortunately with the remodel, instead of genuine old timeless charm, the Vic is starting to look like the oldness is just a theme. It's starting to look like when chain pubs have a kitschy old theme. An old style is very different than having a theme of oldness. The wood panelling has been covered up by snakeskin and blond wood trim; the glass lamps replaced with modern brass ones; and the beautiful candlelit ambiance is drowned out by bright lighting. Much might be forgiven or overlooked if the lighting wasn't so distractingly bright. Even the outdoor string lights are very bright essentially putting the porch on a spotlight for the whole street. Some of the bulbs are also far too cool like office lighting. I miss the warm, cosy atmosphere it had before.
On the positive side, the traditional wood games are...

With two real ales on tap and a cozy real fire, it perfectly captures the essence of a classic British pub. One of the standout features of The Victoria is its heated garden, which becomes an ideal retreat during the summer months, especially after 4 pm. The garden's comfortable seating and pleasant ambiance provide a relaxing setting to enjoy a drink outdoors.
