Cornwall Street Fish Bar — Restaurant in Plymouth

Went in and told the member of staff I wanted to eat in. He told me to take a seat. I waited a while and no one came to serve me so I went to the counter and ordered the food as the supposed server was no where to be seen. Had large fish and chips and tartar sauce. Fish was very thin and quite tasteless and it cost £9.00 just for the fish! Tartar sauce was out of a packet and was horrible. When I paid my bill the server asked me if I enjoyed the food and I told her that it was OK, average and that the tartar sauce wasn't nice. She didn't react to what I said as she obviously wasn't interested. They are concentrated on the Just Eat etc orders as many came in whilst I was there to pick up food. First time ordering through Uber Eats, really impressed, best delivery fish and chips I've had by quite a wide margin. They pack salt and vinegar sachets separately so the fish doesn't go soggy in transit, which is a nice touch. If I had one minor criticism (very minor) it's that the fish was maybe a fraction overcooked, I prefer my fish a bit more translucent and this was ever so slightly chewy (everything was extremely well packed so may have just been residual heat in the bag). This didn't impact the meal in any meaningful way, which was crispy and fresh tasting on all counts. A strong 4-4.5/5, will look forward to ordering...

I was very impressed by the quality of the fish and chips that I ordered, the batter on the fish was really crispy and not soggy at all like many of the other fish and chip shops I've tried in Plymouth.

The chips were really lovely too, nice and golden and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside.

The fish was really chunky too, really nice big bits of white fish and it was clear that they hadn't tried to get 2 out of 1 by filleting it thinley. And tasted like it was freshly caught and fried in good oil.
