We stayed here for the night while visiting our Son at University and having completed a road trip around Cornwall. In fact, we got an awesome deal on Booking.com while we were sat in the Cornwall services. We were warmly greeted at reception by Harriet and Luke? (Memory is a bit blurred, to be honest).
We were told our room (119) was on the first floor and advised there were a few stairs to reach the room, but on arrival at the room it was more like a flight of stairs, we gave it a go, but being disabled we thought it would be too much to keep going up and down during the stay, so we returned to reception and asked if there was an alternative.
The room (110) was a lot larger, a bigger bathroom (take your own toiletries as the soap will withstand at best a good scrub) and very clean and tidy. A little tip here - Take a USB memory stick full of your favourite programs in MP4 format and it'll fit nicely into the Bush TV on the wall.
Harriet was awesome and sorted us an alternative room, and even advised it faced a busy main road and we may find it too noisy (We did not, even with the window open, slept like freshly cut logs). It was awesome to have the aircon as we both got a tad warm during the night and I flicked it on and we were soon chilly again with the aircon unit focused on the bed.
Breakfast the next morning was a very slick operation, the "continental" was out awaiting us, pastries, cereals, fruit salad, yoghurts and fruit juices and we were seated and our hot order was taken. It arrived very swiftly from the kitchen and was well presented and a good-sized portion, with quite thick bacon. Our only critic of breakfast would be a choice of Cumberland or pork sausage as we prefer a more "herby" sausage, but we are picky eaters.
Parking is to the rear of the hotel. beware of parking up the side as it gets a tad snug when you want to get out if you have an SUV. I did not notice any marked Disabled parking spaces, oh and be warned there is a slight slope going from the car park to the hotel entrance.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back when we visit our son while he is at...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat to expect: To get away from London my family and I were really looking forward to visiting Plymouth + surrounding region, doing a local holiday. This is where unfortunately the Plymouth Continental hotel entered our lives ๐ญ. booked 3x nights for 447ยฃ , 2 weeks in advance. Weather ahead looking fine. Then BAM! Severe weather warnings appear compromising our safety on the 4 hour drive down. Next, hotels 'management' outright refuse to shift our booking by a handful of days without us incurring a 149ยฃ loss. Despite even having the extra rooms available, as confirmed by the manager on duty. What's more I did not care for the tone of the exchange with management, which I judged as shameful in the very least. I was not prepared to risk my family's safety and so had to absorb the loss.
From my experience I can infer that the predominant organisational value in this company has got to be a singular focus on extracting money from its customers at any cost.
As a customer I shouldn't have booked at this hotel until the very last minute. I should have also shopped around more for other options, whom surely operate with more good faith.
Google and all major social media platforms are excellent channels for wise consumers to pick up on and give feedback about what really happens at those kinds of businesses, where they happen to feel exploited. Trusting that this message is useful to any potential future customers thinking of staying @ Plymouth Continental; and also for the leadership of this organisation for awareness of what's going on within. Needless to say that we don't plan to ever return. If you as the prospective customer is willing to take the risk of hoping for any flexibility from this business or simply for old fashioned courtesy, then I really hope things turn out better for you. Its strictly 'policy' that...
ย ย ย Read moreHad a lovley stay at this hotel recently. Got a good deal directly from their website which included breakfast, and use of the leisure facilities. Our room was very clean and well equipped with all you would need for a short or longer stay, with excellent room service. Lots of hot water, clean towels and comfortable beds. Due to covid there were obvious restrictions but to be honest it had quite a positive impact on our experience, especially when it came to breakfast. There was no buffet style breakfast but, nevertheless it was still extensive and in a way better, because it was almost cooked to order and with excellent ingredients was much better than I have had at any buffet style breakfast before. Also the service from the very young attentive waiters and waitresses was excellent and very professional and considering they were probably busier than they would have normally been due to table service was truly admirable. A good location for many different local attractions within walking distance all mean that we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. I didn't give them full 5 stars because the only one slight drawback was lack of parking which even though the hotel wasn't nearly full, meant that there could have been problems getting a space and considering you had to pay a small fee per day didn't necessarily guarantee you a space. Although I will add that some people can't park properly or...
