A Wonderful Experience at German Doner Kebab in Portsmouth
Dear readers,
I would like to share my exceptional dining experience at German Doner Kebab (GDK) in Portsmouth today. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted by the most delightful and friendly staff, particularly a lady named Mittal. Her warm demeanor, courteousness, and patience truly made our visit memorable.
First and foremost, let me express my utmost satisfaction with the delectable and fresh food served at GDK. The OG Kebab was an absolute delight, bursting with flavors that were a perfect blend of spices and seasonings. The kebab was tender, succulent, and cooked to perfection. Each bite was a heavenly experience, leaving me craving for more.
The Plain Fries were simply outstanding. They were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. The combination of the flavorful kebab and the mouthwatering fries was a match made in culinary heaven.
What truly sets GDK apart, however, is the exceptional quality they maintain in their food. Every ingredient used in their sandwiches and dishes is incredibly fresh, ensuring a burst of flavors with every bite. It is evident that GDK takes great pride in delivering a remarkable dining experience to its customers.
Now, let me take a moment to appreciate Mittal, the extraordinary staff member who went above and beyond to make our visit truly memorable. Her pleasant and amiable nature made us feel welcomed and comfortable throughout our meal. She generously assisted us with our menu choices, patiently answering our questions and providing recommendations. Mittal's dedication to customer service and her genuine care for our satisfaction truly stood out.
I would highly recommend German Doner Kebab to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience in Portsmouth. The combination of their incredibly delicious food, particularly the OG Kebab and Plain Fries, and the exemplary service provided by Mittal make this restaurant a true gem.

Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE There is a clear reason why when you enter that the place is empty. The food is passable, that's if they get your order right that is. Portions are very small, never bother with any "extra option". it's as if they completely disregard it.
The customer service is horrendous. Specifically the woman in her 30's I believe called "saima" (what my receipt read). I had to pause mid ordering to genuinely check if she was a cast member on a reality show known as "Be the most miserable woman alive!". Firstly she shouts as I approach the counter to "order at kiosk", I say I'm using cash and she sighs loudly. After a tense order exchange I am owed 8 pence in change and...she keeps it. It's only 8 pence I know, but who really is going to say "where's my 8p?", especially after such a miserable interaction. But just imagine how often she or perhaps the business as a whole do this, im sure it adds up! She then puts my food on the front table and turns away.
Thankfully she isn't the one cooking! A horrible, horrible experience. I understand why this place is empty now. May it forever stay empty and either fix its ways or close down.
TAKE MY ADVICE! Go to DONER ONE just southwards down the hughstreet. Food is better, prices better, customer service is great and you will...
Read moreWe drove into town tonight to try GDK for the first time, there were 2 or 3 people in front of us who had already ordered. We used the screen to place a large order and sat around 15 minutes. We watched meals coming out of the kitchen being placed in bags before the orders were complete, so we knew our food would not be as hot as it could be. Upon arriving home, one of the main meals were missing. I called the restaurant to ask for it to be delivered and I was told they do not have drivers. I even offered to pay for one of the uber/just eat drivers to deliver our meal and was told no. We had to drive all the way back down and were assured the meal had been on the heat rack. Like the rest of our meals, this was lukewarm at best. Our original server was abrupt and did not crack a smile. The lady who greeted me when I returned was apologetic and had a much better manner. Really disappointed in the whole experience. Only given 2 stars as the spring rolls were delicious, it would have been zero. I would say we would try another branch, but we had already tried to order from the Havant branch who had no beef dishes in stock at all.
A big thumbs down. We won't be back. It's a shame as we spent a good £40 and were really looking...
