The Southsea Deli — Restaurant in Portsmouth

1 star for when we went in the staff were smiling & accommodating BUT.. we ordered the loaded baguette with mocha, coffee arrived about after 5 mins, waited for the bread for 20 mins, my friend went to the counter to ask about it & when he went back to the table he said that the staff were like dont know anything about it& he said twice that we we paid for the loaded one. Arrived 5mins after & it was just regular baguette with 2 slices of bacon..the man from the counter said sorry & asked if he could make me a new loaded one but i WAS SO DISAPPOINTED that i just asked for it to be wrapped for a takeaway. SO DISAPPOINTED COZ I PAID £9 for 2 baguettes with 2 slices of bacon each. Plus the £4 for the 2...

Coffee and cake were good. There were 2 assistants running the shop that afternoon, and neither were particularly attentive, despite the fact the shop was not busy at all. I asked to buy another item and one assistant said she would get it for me and even told me the price but then made no move to get the item (which was out of my reach). The other assistant was just wandering around aimlessly. We eventually left without buying anything else. They certainly lost our business with their total lack of interest!

Postscript: After reading the owner's response, I have been back twice and had good service, so I have revised my rating to 5...

Experienced a wonderful Steak Masterclass yesterday with a friend at South Coast Cookery in Southsea Deli. The atmosphere was superb, learned so much and got to enjoy a variety of absolutely phenomenal quality steaks from Isle of Wight! A brilliant birthday treat. Highly highly recommended and will certainly be trying another class soon. Daniel was a really warm host with lots of knowledge to share in a fun, charismatic yet calm way.
