Appaling I took my partner who loves mumbai and Indian food, it was a bad experience. Tables were not promptely cleaned. The toloilet was blocked and the front lady who bought stuff cooked from.back ignored when said toilet was blocked. .I was really disappointed with the food as it did nt taste authentic like we get in Wemnley area. Very over rated place....well oknif you dnt wanna travel to proper place for a authentic tatse. A toast sandwich was wet and floppy, dishes covered in sev, masala tea had just ginger taste and no other masala and waa luke warm.....a disaster tbh. I’m feeling angry that the poor service and very unwelcome attitude of staff and avg food had spoiled our meal and enjoyment. For this price is better to avoid this place. What a shame. Wont recomend or visit.

This is my 2nd time here. The food is nice and better than other chaat counters in Reading. The sweet boxes are authentic as well. The taste is the only positive side of this place. They severely lack customer service and basic etiquettes of talking to someone. The staff are rude and lack basic mannerism. Moreover they go and start mocking their customers behind their back. Let me clear it out - even though they call themselves Indian, however they are not. Food is served without any cutlery and when you ask them, they will point towards a table at the corner where all the cutlery and tissues are kept. You are expected to help yourself. I didn't understand the point - either go for self service otherwise opt for full services.

I think it's part of the Mercure George Hotel and yet it's tucked away in a separate side building. It's fairly dark inside but sufficiently clean. You have to place your order at the till and collect the cutlery, napkin, water jug and glass from the side counter. The food is brought to your table when ready. The menu is mostly popular street food dishes which is authentic and flavoursome. They also provide a takeaway service. There is a selection of prepacked snacks and sweets available for takeaway. Sometimes they have Indian Bollywood music playing in the background but it lacks the ambience and a warm welcome from the staff. The price is reasonable. Bhel Puri House is within easy access from the Oracle.
