Portello Lounge — Restaurant in Rushcliffe

Nice place. Burgers are very small (don't be expecting a mud crab sized dirty burger) and beef doesn't seem like good quality. It has the texture of burgers made elsewhere and frozen rather than made in the kitchen . Looking at other diners meals, portion sizes in general seem small i.e they look a bit lost on the plates. Coffee is nice but can take a very long time to arrive. Also, while ordering at the bar is all good and well, it is frustrating if during your meal you run out of a drink and then have to leave your table to go to the bar again.

UPDATE: I decided to try Portello Lounge again for lunch today. I had the chipotle chicken burrito and fries. My wife had the halloumi burrito. Both plates arrived quickly which was great but the fries were not hot. The burritos looked nice but the ingredients were very sub par. There was very little chicken or halloumi in either. 1 thin slice of halloumi and no more than 4 small pieces of chicken in mine. The guacamole and salsa tasted like they came from a jar rather than being freshly made. All in all a very bland meal. I've now given Portello Lounge 2 chances to prove itself on 2 very simple dishes and it's failed on both occasions. I won't be wasting my money a third time on food from Portello lounge that tastes like it's been bought in and warmed up. Save your money and go to one of the other far superior restaurants in WB. I have also downgraded my rating to 1 star which looks unfair but is an accurate reflection of of my experience of the poor quality of food...

I’m not sure if there’s a staff shortage or something but the past 2 times I’ve been in the place there’s been no service at all. Went in last week around lunch time, and struggled to find somewhere to sit, every table that wasn’t occupied hadn’t been cleared of the previous customers glasses and plates. As it was lunch time I assumed they were just recovering from a mad rush and things would be cleared shortly. After 10 minutes I decided to clear a table myself. The food took about 40 mins to come (even though it was no longer busy) and we didn’t get everything on the children’s meal deal. We were there for almost 2 hours and the table next to us was still full of old plates and glasses, just as it was when we first arrived, even though staff were just stood around. Went in for a bite to eat today and it was the same, every empty table was still full of used plates and glasses. We found a table and pushed the old stuff to the side. Went to order our food, was told what we ordered might not be available, they will go check, 5 mins later we’re still stood at the bar waiting to find out so just gave up on that particular dish. Nobody came over to clear our table, even when we were served our lunch the waitress left the old dirty plates on our table! I’ve worked in the industry for 15 years and never have I seen or worked in a place that is left in such a mess! Clearly no organisation and very little staff...

The 4 of us visited today ( our first time dining here). My mum didn't get the pickled red onion with her mezze grain bowl even though it's listed in the dishes blurb. Service was incredibly poor and lackluster especially to say the atmosphere was dead with very few customers. We asked the male member of staff with long tied back hair for some garlic Mayonnaise as an extra to our meal, he forgot it instantly and didn't bring it until he was reminded 15 minutes later. A brownie was ordered as a pudding for my sister ( they are cold so can be sliced and served immediately) this took 20 minutes to arrive and the ice cream topping had melted. It was an incredibly hot day today and although this place appears to have air- con units fitted to the ceiling they were not switched on and don't work as they'd been painted over. The tables and chairs are very old and the whole establishment needs overhauling as it appears 'tired'. Staff were running around aimlessly giving a messy and disorganized vibe isn't at all relaxing for the customers visit. This was out first visit and it's certainly our last!...
