Amazing. Me and my partner came here for lunch today. Firstly it has an amazing seating options, outside, inside, and lots of different types of chair. (if like me you have fussy relatives this is brilliant.) We opted to a pair of tub chairs. The decor is lovely and so are all the tea pots.
After looking at the menu for a while we decided we just could not make up our mind and decided to get the afternoon tea, which was about £12 per person. At first, i'll admit, I was a little sceptical about the price because so often the hype of the afternoon tea doesn't live up to the expectation and products are really just store bought cheapness. This soon changed as the food arrived and the tea. The tea was amazing and on top of that it was a large enough tea pot for about 8 cups. The sandwiches were brilliant. We had 3! Coronation chicken, which didn't have sultanas (hooray); Bacon; and salmon and cucumber. Each was a whole sandwich and was freshly made which was brilliant. Allot of 'tea shops' offer afternoon tea and you get half a sandwich per flavour and they are dry. The cakes consisted of a selection of the daily ones available, in miniature. We had: coffee and walnut; raspberry and hazelnut; carrot cake; bake well; Victoria sponge; 2 x butterscotch (best cake ever.) and some other cake that I can't recall because my boyfriend ate it in one. Then there were the scones. You could taste the freshness. Which again allot of places don't do, jam and fresh clotted cream along with about 6-8 strawberries.
I can't even explain how much I loved it here. I wanted to move in. When my mother next visits I will take her here, because of how fantastic it is. They were very accommodating of allergies. And the staff friendly and funny.
I would completely recommend the...
Read moreHad an awful experience at tiffin today. An hour after ordering, our food still hadn't arrived. We did receive our drinks in that time - tea and apple juice which took 35 minutes. We eventually asked for a refund (payment had been taken upfront) and left.
We had originally been told that the wait on food would be 45 minutes. It was only after I'd complained after nearly an hour that the manager tried to make amends by hurrying the order through. Unfortunately with hungry and upset children, this was too little, too late. Whilst the manger was apologetic, the staff member that had served us was completely unsympathetic, unhelpful and rude. Just to be clear, our food order consisted of sandwiches and cakes which shouldn't be too much of a challenge for even the most basic of kitchens. Based on this experience, I won't be going back to tiffin again any time soon and I wouldn't recommend it to families with...
Read moreReally disappointed after recommending! We walked in around 2.45 today after googling that the tearoom closed at 4 so thought we had plenty of time! The young lady came over to take orders, we asked for a ham sandwich battenburg and scone, to be told we only had a minute as the kitchen was closing! After enquiring in the kitchen we were told we couldn’t have a sandwich as there was a back order (everyone was served) We had the other orders as my friend didn’t want anything sweet the assistant failed to tell us you don’t serve original Coca Cola when we placed the order so had to send at back. Was so disappointed that you couldn’t ‘ knock up a sandwich’ then to notice the cook had managed to make herself an omelette and salad and eat in tearoom in less than an hour before closing even though the menu only states they stop serving hot food an hour before closing Very poor...
