Service was exemplary tonight, Louise worked really hard to ensure we had a great night, we were celebrating our Sons exam results and nothing was too much trouble, she was graceful, helpful and personable, not too familiar and effortless - the perfect mix in a hostess/waitress.
Louise also surprised my Son with a congratulations plate during dessert - he was too full for a dessert but she made him feel so special and totally surprised us, such a thoughtful gesture!
Whilst we liked the food and the overall experience was lovely, we did feel that some aspects of the quality of the food took a hit tonight - we feel this may be more of a corporate cost efficiency factor rather than kitchen staff/chef’s skill but at these prices, you want everything to be spot on.
For example, my younger Son’s veg sticks and hummus were inedible - slimy vegetable sticks from being immersed in water to stop them drying out (not sure how long they’d need to be left in water to have a slime on but it doesn’t look or taste great!) and the hummus was horrid, dry and tasteless! I would seriously recommend buying it in or buying in a better quality hummus as it was disgusting. Thankfully louise saved the day and washed off then dried the veg so my youngest could eat 2 of the carrot sticks but that’s all he managed due to them being tasteless (from the water bath most likely).
However My teenage Son was delighted with his rare T bone so well done to Lee for delighting him on his special day!
My husband’s T bone was very tasty, and he finished the lot but he did feel it was a little tough - his steak was cooked medium. He thought this was a meat quality issue rather than a lack of cooking skill, and despite this, he still enjoyed his meal.
My medium 30 day ribeye was tasty and well cooked, I really enjoyed it, good job chef Lee!
Calamari starters were enjoyable, could have done with more dip and it did feel like a different texture than usual - slightly more grainy - but overall tasty and enjoyable.
Salad wedge as always was lovely, louise even managed to organise mine with more blue cheese dressing, that has never happened before at a M&C so I was really impressed with how easy she made it feel for me to have it how I like it! It’s little gestures like this that make customers feel seen and welcomed.
Drinks were seamlessly refilled and always with plenty of ice and glasses provided - both by louise and another charming gentleman who originally showed us to our table and then helped bring over drinks, take glassware away etc. I know this sounds like a simple thing but I’ve lost count of the times I have to look for/call a staff member over to take a drink order and then ask for ice. Louise was on the ball and we didn’t have any empty glasses.
Sides were lovely and plentiful tonight, the onion loaf was crispy and delicious, the chips crisp and a generous portion - which can be hit and miss at M&C. There was no watercress garnish on any of our plates but it’s always limp anyway from the heat lamps so it’s no great loss in my opinion.
My youngest Sons main was a kids burger with cheese and was lovely, he had what seemed like a normal portion of chips which he was delighted with (not a measly kids portion at all!) and the waitress who carried it over was very helpful in bringing a double portion of ketchup for my Sons, with a laugh and a smile, the staff were so easy going tonight, it really made the experience welcoming and friendly.
Desserts were lovely. I worried my tea might be cold by the time my dessert came but Louise reassured me she would remake it if I had a long wait but the dessert came out quickly. Even though there was a big party in at the same time, our desserts came out quick. Great job ‘starters and desserts’ team, you topped and tailed the meal excellently!
thank you, we had a great experience celebrating a special occasion, with a reliable quality of food and a great welcoming service, that’s why we come back to celebrate our special occasions with the btilliant team at the...
Read moreWe were sat where we wanted to be sat however it was cold in the area and I would have thought Miller and Carter would provide heating. I had to wear my jacket half way into my meal and I am not cold natured by nature in fact I prefer the cold but this was more than uncomfortable and even made my food go cold quicker. The restaurant staff were polite and service was spot on. The waitress we had did not take off our $20 deposit and we had to remind her to do this. I believe we should not have to remind the wait staff to take off the deposit on a RESERVED table. However, this did not takeaway from the good food. We ordered the grilled XO shrimp, the wagu rib eye steak and the sharing cookie tart thingy. we also had two drinks, one was a beer on draft and the other was a Long Island tea. The food was delivered in a timely manner and arrives fresh and hot (and delicious). I would suggest you add the grilled XO shrimp to the main menu. I would order this again and again in future visits. The wagu rib eye was really good but I could not tell the difference between wagu and the regular ribeye. It was very good but so is the regular ribeye and just as tender and delicious....so did I get good value for money? I am not so sure and I don't even know if I had the wagu. I would suggest a tag in the meat saying "wagu" or "special cut" etc. The salad that accompanied the dish was skimpy for the high price of the meal however, the chilli dressing with onion was delicious and was a new add on since my previous visit. To be fair it was just enough lettuce wedge. The restrooms were switched around since I last visited and the mens stalls are now on the opposite end and vice versa. This was not good in my opinion as when I visited the restrooms the stall I went in smelled of urine even though it looked clean and tidy. I believe this was because the mens bathrooms always smell like urine and women's always were much cleaner. I would suggest staff regularly pay attention to this especially during a busy evening like Valentines. It should be cleaned and sanitised hourly during peek times to keep any urine smells at bay (or maybe needs some deep cleaning every day and evening). The drinks were really good and the long island tea was nicely presented and tasted really good. I would suggest you make the drink bigger and add more alcohol as I would be would be willing to pay a bit more for this. Please keep in mind that drinks should have bigger ice in them instead of this small crushed stuff. Because the straws make it hard to sip this thru. Just changing the ice will eliminate this problem. The desert was perfect if not a bit rich but can't complain as the rest of my meal was so good I didn't care nor can I complain. The only other negative is that my chair was not clean when I went to sit down as it had bits of food scattered everywhere. I would suggest better cleaning between customers as no one wants food on their butts when they get up and walk to the bathroom or bar. Overall, Miller & Carter is an excellent choice for a steak experience or for a...
Read moreWhere do I start the service I just had at this restaurant was terrible & very degrading. What was meant to be a relaxing afternoon turned into a shocking experience. We ordered a bottle of wine and a few starters from the waitress DONNA who at first seemed lovely but as time went on seemed she had an issue with me asking simple things like the Mac & cheese was under cooked I asked could it be heated some more then the chicken wings (which I asked to be well done) was very undercooked I asked simply could they be heated some more to her reply ‘oh god again’. The prawns were burnt the chips were undercooked but due to her response we just didn’t say anything and carried on eating. The desert came which was meant to have a hot chocolate fudge sauce it was cold so we just asked again can this be reheated to her tutting at us not acknowledging our request and walking to serve another table. We then asked another staff can it be reheated which it was but was like a lumpy chocolate sauce we then asked CHLOE (who I think was a manager) for assistance as at this point DONNA’s negative & abrupt reaction had us left sat there like what on earth did we do wrong apart from ask our waitress to warm up our sauce. CHLOE unfortunately was not much help either if she is the manager for this establishment then I find it quite sad if this is how they deal with there customers. We spoke in a normal tone but as she walked over to the table she asked us to sshhhh. That alone was shocking. All we did was try to explain the dismissive behaviour we have endured for simple tasks we had asked for met with CHLOE dismissing us some more no apology in site not even anything just that her staff was the best waitress and hasn’t had one complaint before. It’s not that we was trying to complain but we had already had a series of incidents where it seemed DONNA did not care about serving us well. Still in a quiet but shocked tone we was met with CHLOE saying to me & my sister that we was being aggressive (clearly gaslighting her customers) now not at one part of this conversation was anyone aggressive we were customers explaining our issues. & what makes this situation very awkward and sad to me is because I am brown lady I really feel that’s the reason she said me & my sister were aggressive because we honestly was not it was a situation that as a manager she could have diffused it’s shocking with the attitude and again such dismissive behaviour she had towards us. It was so embarrassing she just walked off shouting at us to leave, there was other customers in the restaurant that was looking and laughing. I’ve never been so embarrassed or felt so racially profiled in my whole entire life. I actually use this restaurant frequently but after today I won’t be returning. As a franchise across the UK I can’t believe this is how the staff operate considering this restaurant is based in such a diverse area. Clearly the staff here don’t care about there custom or at least the ones who have an opinion of the food. (Or maybe it’s colour of there...
