I had been to Tobermory many times but never explored the upper street, tye walk up the steep hill was very worthwhile as we discovered An Tobar gallery. They had an exhibition of work from the Glasgow Print Studio which was amazing. Really inventive works all with amazing views out the windows across Tobermory Bay. We didn't eat any food but were served the most delicious coffee all in a relaxed and colourful environment. The staff were also very friendly and happy to chat to us, so worth the walk up the hill.

Arrived in beautiful Tobermory...of Balamory fame..[What's the story?]...3 minutes from our holiday cottage we found An Tobar on a steep hill up from the main town. It appears to be a, sympathetically, converted very old school building combining a gallery, music venue and cafe. Very friendly and down to earth staff.... and dog friendly. All the food and cakes etc are home made, not a wide chouce though. Trying to find a word to sum it up.... Quirky!

An Tobar is a lovely cafe with a strong community vibe in Tobermory, Isle of Mull 😍 the outdoor tables have a wonderful of the coast life and boats. We had lunch there and enjoyed the delicious refreshing soup and sandwiches. The photo exhibition of a young artist was interesting. Unfortunately, we didn't stay for the music performance in the evening. Dogs are welcome and seem to be enjoying the atmosphere too đŸ’€

Had lunch today which was quite underwhelming. Only 7 other people so can’t say they were rushed off their feet. We both had bland Asparagus & Courgette soup which was flavourless. We asked for some salt as there wasn’t any seasoning in the soup. Also had a Beetroot, Goats Cheese ( I think ) and hummus toasted sandwich which had hardly any filling. It also was devoid of flavour, couldn’t even taste any hummus. Didn’t bother with drinks. To be fair to An Tobar we have eaten there quite a bit over the time we’ve lived here and usually have great food but unfortunately today was an expensive disappointment. Your comments would be...

Community hub with a small cafĂ©. Some local art is on display and available for purchase. Hot drinks with plant milk were available; however, there were no lunch options and only three cakes on offer, none of which were vegan. Staff were friendly and apologetic, stating they had previously offered vegan cake but had difficulty sourcing ingredients locally. I did find vegan cake in much more remote locations on Mull, though. A shame—being the only veggie place on the island, I would’ve liked...
