We were a party of seven, and ordered fish and chips amongst other things. We also added loads of extra chips as side dishes. We were one of the first guests for dinner, so perhaps the oil was not hot enough? The battered fish was soft, so were all the chips. No crisp or crunch at all, just a sad sodden mess. Informed the waiter who said he would tell the new chef. No offer to replace fish or chips or have the decency to offer a discount. The lemon sole was also mushy and swimming in butter. Tried to take a photo of a chip - it was so soft and soggy it didn’t hold up and broke on one end. £200+ down the drain! This used to be an institution but must have changed hands. If you are complacent and rely on foreign visitors, you will not survive. Local tourists remember and will never revisit. Bad food and worse management. What a shame it has all gone downhill!

Me and my partner ordered soup, polenta, and seafood pie. We were pretty satisfied with food but the service wasn’t great. The person serving seemed like he did not care much. Not the best service overall. Food is good. We went to the bar side of MishNish and surprised with the atmosphere and how good the service was… VAUGHAN served us and it was amazing and very helpful. Today we had salmon starter, half portion of haddock and chips, Moroccan stew, and Polenta and Halloumi burger. The fish was very nice and so was the burger. Very good service by this one person and again food is great here for vegetarians and non-vegetarians of course. I am impressed with the variety of drinks on the draft including cocktails. I had passion fruit martini…very good. However, I would have liked more of the drink and less froth. But still very unique.

I had a really lovely time at Mishnish that I spent my 3 nights in Tobermory eating there. There is a pub and a restaurant at each side of the restaurant. The pub is cosy and had a roaring fire place going on. Good mixture of locals and tourists. Food menu is good and I love the papaya salad, burgers and steak & ale pie. Good prices compared to other places I had seen in Tobermory. There is a Mishnish larger which is highly recommended. I also tried the restaurant and the flavour of the food is amazing. The scallops were extremely sweet and the seafood chowder was fresh and warming. The tomato water that comes with the halibut was sublime. Highly recommended. The restaurant is more covid conscientious fyi

The room was only average, better for its front aspect towards the bay. It was a frantic arrival and parking was difficult with parking eventually found a few hundred yards from the hotel since the ferry was pushed back and we arrived late in darkness and heavy rain (obviously not the hotel's fault). Checking was surprisingly efficient considering how busy it was when we arrived, the staff member was welcoming.|Breakfast service was poor. The wrong breakfasts were coming out to people and mine was completely wrong. I reordered but it appears the server failed to lodge the original order the second time. So once several other people had ordered and received their meals and mine had not materialised I felt insulted to be honest at being ignored for so long and left without eating a cooked breakfast. My friends reported that my breakfast was eventually delivered to an empty place and no-one said anything - how reduculous.|Unfortunately, the breakfast fiasco coloured the brief stay for me personally, so I discussed the matter with the receptionist who was most understanding but unwilling to break the bill down so I could pay in full minus the breakfast something I would have been happy to do. I am afraid in the frame of mind I was in fresh from the breakfast fiasco I said at the time that since the balance could not be broken down, I would not pay the balance at all therefore! I intended to go back with a cool head and pay before we left but in the event and discussions with our group leaders the hotel didn't want me to pay the balance as they felt their service had fallen significantly below the standards they set for themselves. Well, that's a credit to...

On arrival the welcome simply wasn’t there. It was a charmless checkin with a man in shorts. Another member of staff was lounging on a sofa in reception. She was clearly off duty and appeared to be completely bored by our presence. It felt like the place was being run by the teenagers while the parents had gone away for the weekend, although neither member of staff were teenagers. Being polite we made an extra effort to engage with the staff but this didn’t seem to have any effect on their indifference. It was utterly extraordinary and we were made to feel as if they were doing us a favour by allowing us to stay there. ||We spent a great deal of money in the bar that evening. There was no recognition given to us by the staff who were working the bar who had also checked us in. ||In the hotel restaurant the pork belly was extremely dry at dinner, but with a nice Danish lady serving us who was the only member of staff who stood out as actually caring for the guests. The meats at breakfast the next day had clearly been cooked and then dried out in an oven that was too hot. ||On checkout an older man was running reception. There was no enquiry as to whether we had enjoyed our stay, or a thank from him when he took our money. Utterly bizarre. ||There appeared to be nobody overseeing the staff who generally seemed indifferent to providing a good guest experience. They were doing their job and that was it. ||The room was cleaned only moderately well. ||Would I go back to The Mishnish? The Oban Hotel is a far better experience with charming staff who make you feel welcome and wanted. Oh, and the rooms are exactly...

First, Tobermory the town itself was a delightful surprise. It's a tiny town that is full of character and made for the best pictures. There are several hotels in town and I'd settled on Mishnish based on the interactions I'd had with their reservationist and the great reviews on the hotel restaurant. Our actual experience was very much a mixed bag.

First, when we arrived, we found out that the family room we'd reserved had been double booked. They had to nestle a fold out bed into one of their other rooms. The room itself was absolutely beautiful and had a lovely view of the bay. With the fold out bed, it was a tight fit, but ultimately we were all happy with the space. The staff were also very kind in letting us update our reservation to the restaurant for an earlier time.

Our restaurant experience was OK. Our server wasn't the most friendly and the crab bisque tasted like tomato soup. I liked the pasta dish, though, bits of the seafood were quite overcooked. The sticky toffee pudding was delightful.

We did have various other issues that made our stay less than ideal. The bathroom was beautifully appointed, but when I tried to take a shower, the water never warmed up. The next day, I saw a sign posted at the receptionist desk that the boiler was out, which we were never told. Also, when we tried to check out the next morning, it took over fifteen minutes for someone to come to the receptionist desk to actually take our keys and finalize our bill. It honestly feels like this is a good hotel that is going through some challenges...
