Won’t be controversial to say one of the best bakeries I’ve ever been to in Glasgow.

The lineup:

BLAT (bacon lettuce avocado tomato) Meatball Bap Lorne, egg and black pudding roll

Jeeeeeeessssss Louise this was good. My sandwich (the blat) was made with incredible sourdough, with just the perfect amount of crisp around the edges and super soft in the middle, could’ve eaten that all day without cutting a single bit of my mouth.

The other two, I was told, were placed on some fantastic rolls, with almost milk bread like texture, almost made me jealous. The meatballs were packed full of herby juicy deliciousness, and the square sausage was gone before I could even try a taste.

The wait staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as well. My friend spilled his drink but they took the extra steps to not only help clean up the spill but also got him a free refill. Going that little bit out of the way really makes the experience special, so thank you!

Seems like a lovely wee community that goes there and with it being slap bang on anniesland cross it’s still fairly handy to get to!

I’ll definitely be back for some bread, a pie and maybe another cup of delicious tea!

Also if you are looking to preorder their sourdough the best way to do it is to follow their facebook page, and when they release their menus on Wednesday, pop a comment on the post with your name and day you want to get it with minimum 24hrs notice!!!

I’ve revisited just to try the pastries, which is yet another great recommendation from me. The danishes they make change toppings regularly, and the one pictured was essentially a Black Forest gateau on a danish. Excellent!

Cheers to another great...

My visit here proved to be overly long - and for the wrong reasons. Our order was a simple one of two coffees and a "bap" each. After a long wait the coffees arrived, which we nursed and nursed until the last dregs were stone cold ... and waited, and waited. As did those who had ordered after us and were standing in the to-go queue. There was no shortage of staff (3 behind the bar, 2 front of house - which for such a small place is more than enough). Despite enquiries from myself and others, little in the way of apologies/info/updates was given. A complete mystery as to why service was so bad. Probably just a lack of good management. Oh, and when the food did eventually arrive, no condiments were forthcoming and my "bap" really required a bit of brown sauce to lubricate things down - after all, the coffee had long gone! All in all, not an experience that endeared me to the Beefcake, and one which would have me heading next door to Annie's. To be fair, my eating partner did state she'd visited several times in the past and the service hadn't disappointed...

Recently moved to the area and have been in here at least once a week, slowly working our way through the menu!! Firstly the service is perfect, friendly and attentive without being too much. Secondly the food is all delicious and freshly made, the hot brunch/lunch dishes are just great! The omelette in the breakfast rolls is spot on!! Thirdly the coffee is perfect, great tasting and well made - favourite coffee in Glasgow so far!! And finally the pastries are amazing, the nicest we’ve had in a long time! The only downside is that we can’t go on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. But good things come to those...

A cute, quirky wee cafe with a welcoming atmosphere, home baking (including bread), and a menu that changes weekly. Decor is sort of sunny retro. The upstairs section adds useful extra space, and there's an outdoor seating area that's set back away from the main road, so not too noisy. Coffee portions could be bigger, considering the prices, and they have that 'quirky cafe' problem of small, retro crockery with large, modern cutlery that is too big for it and consequently (if you're like me) ends up getting knocked onto the table or even the floor.
