The dining experience offered a delightful array of Indian and fusion dishes, largely hitting the mark. The aloo paratha stood out as a highlight, perfectly cooked and served with a refreshing yogurt dip. While the menu promised mint chutney, its absence was noted and left a slight ambiguity – it's unclear if it's an optional extra or simply overlooked during preparation. Nevertheless, the paratha itself was "spot on," indicating a well-executed dish. Moving on to the classic Bombay toasties, these also received high praise. Described as "spot on," they were evidently served hot with a generous and flavorful filling, complemented beautifully by the green chutney inside. The combination clearly worked well, delivering a satisfying bite. Similarly, the grilled cheese naan was well-received, with the "good enough" cheese filling indicating a decent portion and quality that met expectations. The chana masala rice box, presented with chickpea and potato salad and crunchy papri, offered a hearty and flavorful main. A minor point of confusion arose regarding the requested extra onion and green chili, for which an additional charge was incurred. Initially, there was concern these might have been missed.
However, the server promptly clarified, demonstrating the presence of the chili within the box – a detail perhaps overlooked due to personal oversight.
This small interaction highlighted attentive service in rectifying the initial confusion. Overall, the meal presented a strong showing of well-prepared dishes, with only minor points for clarification or very slight adjustments in future service. The flavors were authentic, and the execution generally excellent, making for a highly enjoyable...
Read moreFirst experience of this franchise. I first tried using their app as the site promoted 20% off first order via the app. I downloaded, registered and ‘tried’ to make my first order but it kept hanging as the payment was processing and freezing so after 3 attempts I swallowed the £3 saving and ordered at the counter. I ordered the tikka wrap, mac ‘n cheese, a hot coffee and an iced coffee. The order took about 10mins which was OK due to the type of food dishes ordered but I noticed the server immediately upon ordering, made both coffees then proceeded to place the hot one in the warm pastry display and the iced coffee in the fridge. These in my opinion should be made when as close to the food being ready, not 10mins prior and stored in alternative areas. Both coffees came from large pre-made urns so again at around £3 for a regular, you would expect fresh coffee to order. The wrap was tasty and I would say worth the money being chicken tikka however more could be said for the Mac! It was served in a paper box but only a quarter to third filled. The macaroni cheese was pretty basic it it hadn’t had some spring onions and massala seasoning sprinkled over the top, at £5.50 a big disappointment in my opinion. Premises were fresh & clean which you would expect from a new business and the...
Read moreStepping into Chaiiwala on Reform Street feels like catching a warm breeze on a cold Scottish day. The cafe hums with energy — chatter, clinking cups, and the low hiss of chai being poured. Their Karak Chai is the real deal: rich, aromatic, just spicy enough without overwhelming. It warms you up from the inside. The menu is street-food inspired — wraps, kebab rolls, loaded chips, pani puris — casual eating done well. Each item feels like it’s made with care rather than thrown together.
What really stands out is the vibe. The staff are approachable, friendly, always ready with a smile or a recommendation. It doesn’t try to be fancy; it just wants to be honest, tasty, comforting. It’s great for a relaxed lunch, catching up with friends, or a quick bite when you’re heading somewhere. Portions are fair, prices affordable, and flavour is generous. Mostly Chaiiwala delivers what it promises: good food, good tea, good mood. A solid go-to when you want something different in...
