I was a little let down by my experience here. I went with friends on a reservation. I was there 15 minutes early and was asked to sit outside somewhere until it was closer to the time. I was hoping to get a drink and am usually offered something in similar situations at other restaurants, but this didn't happen. My friend came and was asked to wait inside by the same staff member. He came outside and took care of other tables nearby, but didn't mention to me that my friend had arrived. When the reservation time came up he hadn't said anything so I went back inside which is when I saw my friend was there. I sat with her and the staff member continued to pass by us as the reservation time also passed. After about 10 minutes, he gestured to us and told us that the £1 oyster deal was limited because they had more people than expected that day. We said it was fine. A different server came up to us to get our drink order and advised us that the oyster count was limited even further than originally mentioned. I asked for more clarification and mentioned being told a different number. She simply said he was the manager so probably knew better, but never confirmed. For convenience sake we were told we couldn't choose our oyster topping and they would just bring them out already topped. That was a little odd and a bit of a shame because only one out of the three was nicely done. The flavours were interesting, but completely overwhelmed the oyster and it would have been preferred that we got to top them ourselves, if at all. The rest of the dishes were also interesting, but the flavours and textures were all over the place. Unfortunately don't think I'll be trying again, but really grateful there is a place in Glasgow offering £1 oysters. Just make sure to go at 5 pm so you can fully enjoy...

The food at Kelp is going to rock your taste buds, brought to you by the family team at Ardnamurchan Scottish Restaurant & Bar their hospitality.
I have to start by saying I eat out for the experience, I want challenged, stimulation of my culinary taste buds. I don't want bland over priced home home so often served up by the perlifercation of chain pubs and restaurants.
If you want fantastic seafood served in a friendly casual dining surroundings look no further.
Our waiter tonight was great he understood his roll well being both attentive and knowledgeable but never overbearing.
The prices whilst not what you might call cheap, it is really great value. It should noted given it is first class sea food cooked and served in great inviroment it can't and should not be cheap.
Our hostess was kept busy meeting and greeting with a lovely smile whilst running about assisting with orders all very efficient and professional.
The explosion of taste sensation will keep you coming back.
Stand out dishes for us were the Hebradian Squid which arrived first and the Ghia Halibut both out standing.
We also had very fresh langoustines, Crab donut in the most delicious sauce. Sides we ordered fries and samphire slaw, fries were the only item not worthy of note not bad but just fries.
Our deserts also hit some real tasty notes including a very trendy Sea-buckthorn tart auwsome.
Another nice touch not being gouged for an lovely espresso only £2.20
All in all 9.5 out of 10 for very good value and...
Read moreThe restaurant atmosphere is great. Definitely recommend to go there for drinks. Our experience of staff was mixed, one gentleman who met us at the door and spoke to us at points throughout the night was fantastic. He helped us with the menu and some of the food service. The other servers were quite vacant, they would dump food on the edge of the table then run as fast as they could whilst we had no plates or cutlery and empty drinks... also the food comes out one at a time so knowing what the plates were would have been nice.
I think any review for this restaurant should come in the context of each plate costing between £11-£17 and they recommend 2-3 plates per person.
The food was pretty bad to be honest. We were told they had a new chef so it's probably a temporary criticism. There were moments of greatness in the food though. But on the whole it was not pleasant. For example parts were just bland. Or the oysters, absolutely smothered in topping so all you could taste was the topping and 2/3 toppings were not to our taste. On alot of the plates they had a lime reduction which tasted very strongly and since they were extremely generous with it it ruined the rest of the flavours on the plate.
Anyway, we had a good time. The drinks were very nice. We enjoyed the potato churros and some of the parts of some plates. The atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent. I don't think the prices of the food reflect the taste nor the service...
