This will be our fifth stay at the Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow and never been disappointed! If you are looking for a relaxing stay in a very clean and comfortable city centre hotel at a fantastic price then look no further. We booked our most recent stay on a Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The reception staff were extremely welcoming, cheerful and informative. Our room was bright and beautifully furnished - the hotel went out of their way to leave rose petals on our bed with an anniversary card - lovely touch considering I only mentioned our special occasion in conversation. Our room price included a fully stocked mini bar. Room was front facing, very quiet at night thanks to good double glazing. Did I say mini bar 🤔 Consists of red and white wine, decanters of whisky, gin and vodka, a variety of mixers, still and sparkling water. Should you feel peckish then you are also provided with biscuits, crisps, cereal bars and your own coffee machine to wash everything down. Our room included use of the hotel lounge. Due to covid restrictions this needs to be booked in advance (1hr 45min slots until 10pm) and is table service only - very attentive! We enjoyed an endless supply of alcoholic and non alcohol beverages, nibbles (popcorn and crisps) and a cheese and biscuit platter. We opted for a full breakfast in our room (£5 tray charge). Breakfast was knock out and would fill an elephant until it's time for dinner. We look forward to another stay very soon!

Our 1 night stay was made possible from a voucher gifted to us at Christmas. The reception is a 1 minute walk from Queen Street station in Glasgow. We were unable to get our room till 4pm but were able to check in our bags at midday. The first receptionist was incredibly friendly however the receptionist who checked us in at 4 was less welcoming. The lifts are right next to the reception and from the ground floor to our room the hotel was impeccably clean. The room itself on the 5th floor looked out onto some offices and private properties. There was a bottle of gin, whisky and vodka in the room upon arrival. There is also a coffee machine and fresh milk can be sourced in the lounge. We didn't dine in the restaurant but did attend one of the free bar sessions. We had a few drinks before heading out in town. The snacks that were served really weren't up to the standard the hotel itself gives off. Olives, plain crisps and popcorn(which was stale). The staff however were attentive and the waitress looking after us was only in here 2nd week done a great job. The highlight of the stay for me was the extremely powerful and extra hot shower in the morning. I followed this up with a soak in a roasting hot super sized bath. At 194cms(6ft 4") in height, this is an opportunity I don't often get where I can fully submerge myself. Would highly reccomend a stay here to anyone visiting Glasgow!!

We stayed for 3 nights at The Carlton George and really enjoyed our stay.|Location is fantastic. Staff were all really friendly and helpful and a credit to the hotel!|The room was ok. I had stayed before and liked the quirkiness of the decor so knew what to expect on that level. However on this occasion a couple of things let it down.|The room on the surface appeared clean, however when plugging in the hair dryer the sockets were really dusty. I dropped an earring which ended up under the bed and that showed that it hadn’t been hoovered under there for a while.|The room was quite dark despite being large and the lights didn’t really help. We were in a nice spot at the end of a corridor, but the window opened on to what I am guessing is an air conditioning unit which was loud. This didn’t bother us too much with the window closed, but I can imagine if people wanted the window open it would be bothersome.|The bathroom was fine, except the shower kept changing temperature from warm his to scolding, so I think the thermostatic valve on the shower had gone.|The bed was really comfy and we both slept very well.|The mini bar and optics were a lovely addition and we made the most of these with some bad weather one evening.|We had no coffee machine in our room which was a shame as instant coffee wasn’t great and I found the coffee in the breakfast room quite bittersweet, so I missed my morning coffee.|We had breakfast on all 3 mornings and enjoyed breakfast and the options, although the second days breakfast was the best, so maybe a different chef.|Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again, however it proved disappointing in comparison to my...

This hotel has many pros and cons, but misses the benchmark for a 4-star hotel in several categories.

The location could not be better, as the hotel is located in central Glasgow and is a convenient walk away from any sites, as well as two train stations. The hotel also provides a free mini bar, which is a thoughtful gesture.

The experience we had with staff was mixed. Several of the front desk staff were attentive and helpful. Others were completely disengaged and did the bare minimum to respond to our queiries. A young woman who was working on the morning of October 21st was incredibly welcoming; we also spoke with some of the cleaning staff and found them very helpful.

The rooms themselves were not in line with our expectations for a four-star hotel. There were no bathrobes or slippers offered and unfortunately we found that sections of our room had not been properly cleaned or serviced, as they still had prior guests' rubbish in them. The shower was impossible to adjust to a normal temperature, as it would range between freezing and suddenly scalding. The toilet sink was clogged. It was very dark both in the room and toilet; as we were attending a wedding it was incredibly difficult to get ready - we could barely see our faces, let alone shave or apply makeup.

In short, the hotel stay was fine and at the correct price point, we would stay here again in the future. I hope that the management can take this review as guidance for aspects which can be improved, as I feel all of these points can be...
