Those who follow me know I hardly give 5 stars
We got the egg coffee and it's seriously spectacular. This isn't quite authentic, because the authentic version is honestly abit hard to swallow, but the cream layer tastes a little bit like marshmallows and is super flavourful. When mixed in, the overall flavour profile is authentic as well, strong as Vietnamese coffees tend to be, and uncompromising on the sweetness as well
We originally only wanted to get a coffee here, but the coffee was so impressive we got the duck afterwards
The stir fried duck was absolutely delicious. This is good even for Vietnamese standards. Flavours were strong, duck was tender and crispy, and well coated with the insanely aromatic lemongrass bits and sauce. I've never had this in Vietnam, however I can say definitively the flavour profile is true to Vietnamese cuisine ideas.
The best Vietnamese I've had in the UK, one of the best coffees I've had in the UK, and the best duck dish I've had in the 12months.
Second visit: Ice coffee(ca phe sua da) is authentic, very sweet and intense just as it should be.
Coconut iced coffee was superb as well, the coconut slush was great.
As expected of one of the few spots I've ever given out 5 stars to
Third visit: Hotplate duck was amazing as before
Hotplate eel betel leaf was good, eel wasn't the super fatty and soft texture because it needs to be stir fried, betel leaf also isn't as explosively aromatic as lemongrass, but overall still a pleasant rendition
The recommendation of stir fried hor fun was bad tho, very flat...
Read moreThe food was really tasty, not much fault apart from the curry was more of a curry soup, which felt a bit misadvertised from the photos.
The staff were friendly and nice however they kept running/sprinting round which just made myself and my fiance feel a bit uneasy/rushed. Also we were given our mains and the dirty plates weren’t taken away from the starters/the starters weren’t even finished yet, which added to the feeling of being rushed.
Given 4 star as the flavour and quality of the food was good, and overall quick service. The menu had a lot of choice, with majority having a vegetarian options, however the Pho mentioned having a broth made from beef but mentioned a vegetarian option. It isn’t clear whether that broth would be different or not.
I had the chicken Satay, my fiance had the prawn summer rolls, both really nice. The flavour of the curry was really nice but again it was more...
Read moreMy partner and I chose this restaurant as somewhere to eat before we caught a show nearby, and it was a good choice!
I had the fresh spring rolls with prawn and ham for a starter while my partner had the fried spring rolls, she said they were the best spring rolls she had ever had!
For our mains I chose a sizzling plate of crispy duck with a "house sauce". While the duck was lovely and crispy and full of flavour, there was no "sauce" of which to speak which was a little disappointing. My partner had chosen a noodle salad dish which she thought was meat, but turned out to be more of the same spring rolls, which I felt any server who knew what they were doing would have advised against. She did say it was delicious, but 2 courses of the same thing is a little disappointing.
I still really enjoyed what I had though and would love to try more of the menu, maybe next time I'll ask a few more...
