I booked a table for five to have a dinner at 7pm. I live ten minutes away from the restaurant and have passed it many times so was looking forward to seeing and tasting this local restaurant. The outside of the restaurant is nicely decorated with the twinkling lights on the window and the inside was warm and welcoming with many tables and it was quite busy. I booked the table for 5 the day before as the online booking would not take more than 4 which was surprising. When we got there we were taken to the table which was only suitable for 4 people with an extra chair added to the end of the table. My partner wasn’t happy as it would be difficult to eat at such a small table. We told the waitress that we weren’t happy and after a few minutes she told us that there was a round table which we could have after the diners have left. After a while we moved the table.
The food itself was good but there were a few issues. I am reviewing everything we had. For starters the rosemary focaccia (FOCACCIA AL ROSMARINO) was excellent and very generous portion . The calamari (CALAMARI FRITTI) was slightly chewy. The bruschetta was very good. ARANCINI was good also. For mains, three of us had POLLO GRANDUCATO and the chicken breast coated in light breadcrumbs, pan fried & topped with tomato Napoli sauce, fresh Mozzarella was very good but the tagliatelle in a cream & wild mushroom sauce was overcooked which was disappointing. Two of us TORTELLI with porcini’s mushrooms was nice but overcooked also. For dessert, we had tiramisu which was lovely, affogato which was very good, cannoli very delicious and lemon sorbet which came in a Prosecco glass (not sure about this would be better if this was served in a different glass as it was odd to eat out of narrow glass).
Overall a good visit and we will come back again but hope some of our feedback could be looked at by the...
Read moreWe had planned heading back nearer home for food after our trip to Inflata Nation for our son’s birthday day out (mum, dad and two boys). We were all so hungry and after a check of the local area decided to go to La Fiorentina as it looked and smelled so appealing.
We were not disappointed, what a place! From the minute we walked in (rather underdressed tbh) we were made feel so welcome, the staff so friendly and seated us at a lovely table near the door. The first thing you notice in La Fiorentina is the intimate dining area which is not uncomfortable but very homely. Then onto the food which is presented on a clear and varied menu. We ended up going for a set early evening menu in which we were spoilt for choice. Everything was warm, flavourful, expertly cooked and delicious. I like to try something different on occasions like this and I have to single out my risotto ai porcini, something I would never normally order but oh my goodness it was bellissimo!! The whole family left with full belly’s and warm hearts at finding this absolute gem of a spot to eat,
I don’t write many reviews of places I go to but have written this as soon as I got home, can’t wait for our next trip to this area again as La Fiorentina will definitely be in the itinerary plan for our trip there.
Thank you so much for a...
Read moreFirst off. I've been eating here 20 odd year and always rated it.
Starters were excellent.
My main was fine. My wife's had a hair in it and notified waitress. To which she just took plate away to notify manager I presume. Another waiter came with menu which my wife said she will just order her dessert.
Dessert arrives and she notices another hair right in desert so never removed it. Notified waiter again of this issue and he took plate away.
Manager comes over and says we don't know where it came from but it wasn't from this restaurant and no one in kitchen has long hair and looked at my wife. Basically blaming her forgetting they have a female waitress who is going in and out of the kitchen.
I get this happens as all human but the attitude was absolutely disgusting. To call yourself a manager you should hang your head in shame. Not 1 single apology which is all I was looking for as realize mistakes...
