Lychee Oriental Southside — Restaurant in Scotland

DO NOT EAT HERE we have just left this restaurant and i wish we hadn’t even bothered walking in. we were sat and ordered drinks, starters and mains. the starters (hot honey wings and duck rolls) were okay but our mains were genuinely foul. the crab and squid were honestly disgusting, the meat did not taste remotely fresh and the batter was powdery and caked in a ridiculously salty spice mix that is still burning my mouth even after we’ve left. all the food was powdery with the same spice mix and was honestly making me gag at the table. the hoisin sauce was scalding hot and tasted only of salt. there was honestly nothing to redeem these terrible meals. when i brought this up to the staff, they brought over who i can only assume was the manager, as when he approached the table he just said “what’s the problem?” i explained that we were unhappy with the meal and that the meat did not taste at all fresh, to which i was assured that the meat is all fresh. when we asked when it was ordered, he then admitted that none of the meat was in fact fresh and that it was frozen meat that he could not tell us when had been ordered. if you are thinking of having a meal here, i urge you not to. if a manager will blatantly lie at the table to their customers about the food they are serving them, no one should be eating there. i usually wouldn’t leave a review like this but we aren’t even 20 minutes out of the restaurant and i have been sick in my mouth several times. A big let down. I feel this place had a reputation for being something different and 'hype' around it. We booked and sat in. The restaurant is small and was relatively quiet, this meant we were touching distance of the table beside us and could hear their full conversation as if we were all sat at the same table.

The food was the biggest let down. The chicken was like popcorn chicken out of a supermarket, it was not great quality and had nothing 'special' about it. The whole meal was really a mediocre chinese takeaway meal but that we were were paying high prices to sit and dine-in. The portions were pretty small also.

Service was good as they had more staff and customers. We ate 2 courses and left within an hour as the food was brought out extremely quickly and plates cleared as soon as you put your...

I had a booking for 10 people and 2 kids: The food was a bit salty but fine overall and servers were friendly but I left the establishment and was waiting on the street for my lift to arrive only to be called back 5 minutes later to say they haven’t charged me properly. I then waited until he recalculated the bill which came to £24.95 more. I had already paid £200 so he said I need to pay £4.95 more. I did it but found the whole ordeal really tacky and didn’t even bother checking what he had charged me for or if my deposit had been taken into account. I just think if a customer pays and leaves the building then you shouldn’t call them back from the street because you made a mistake.
