Market Bar — Restaurant in Scotland

Absolutely terrible place. Made the mistake of going here 3 times and every time was awful. The place is dirty, food on the floor, covered in crumbs doesn't look like it's had a decent clean since it opened. Waited 35 mins for food had to go up to the bar and ask as had a toddler with me who was getting hungry. They said that a drink wasn't included in kids meal then looked back at the menu which said a drink was included so went back up to the bar to show the guy the menu. Finally got a kids orange juice which came in the smallest of glasses. Food finally arrived after 40 mins. It was cold so the waitress came back and as we complained and said it was cold she said she was already coming to take it away as she knew it was cold?!!! Manager came over and apologised said there had been a change over of staff and the order got mucked up and the food was just minutes away. Waited another 10 minutes for the food to arrive. Bland, average food. Not worth the money. I know you get what you pay for but when it was wetherspoons it was a lot tastier and still cheaper than what it is now. Curly fries and normal fries just covered in grease. The place has definitely lost its vibe as it's no longer a wetherspoons. The atmosphere has totally gone and staff are just dull, didn't see any of them even crack a smile. Will DEFINITELY not be returning and will tell family/friends never to go here. Just want to say been going here for years I usually love it but have noticed the last few times it’s went down hill anyway this visit I ordered a draft coke I didn’t like the taste of it so I asked if I could swap for a can of coke and I’ll pay the difference the bar man handed me the coke said £2.20 I said yeh can I swap that as I didn’t like the coke he said yeh £2.20 like being sarcastic I was like right whatever paid it and just walked away ordered a steak pie it came the chips looked well under covered the person I was with a chips were crispy but tbh I was starving so started digging in, to my surprise I pulled a big piece of plastic out my mouth spat it out I called over the waitress she was lovely said she will get someone to come down about 15 mins past no one came I saw her walking past I said to her is someone coming she was surprised no one had spoken to me yet went away came back and told me I could have a replacement I said can I get a refund as iv been put off now not really wanting to take my chances, anyway went to bar asked for the refund same guy that served the coke he just gave me the refund didn’t apologise or nothing I assume he’s the manager he just seems like he’s raging or something, this is the bit of plastic I did get my refund it says takes 3-5 days. Overall a good place however I feel that they really need to update their menu as it has not really been changed in years in fact the menu has actually got significantly smaller over the past few years as they have completely removed their full breakfast and entire steak menus, i have actually messaged them on SM to suggest they add items to the menu such as gammon steak , ribs seafood ECT( which I got no response). Also they have has the SAME four desert choices for years which does not include pub favourites such fruit crumbles or pies. on the plus side the food they DO serve is good quality their Steak pie is delicious. the staff are are always friendly and helpful but the clean up of tables for next customers can be a little slow and the place settings are not laid for the next customers and are just brought to you after ordering. like I said previously a good place just needs the menu updating and to be run more like a restaurant with tables set and cleaned ready for next customers and the carpets need a good cleaning too.
