We recently visited Monterey Jack's Stirling branch for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon, the place seemed extremely quiet so it actually took the waiter a few minutes to notice me and my wife were waiting to be seated, luckily he spotted us and sat us in a lovely corner two seater just by the staircase. I wanna start this review by saying I love the aesthetic of the restaurant and the entire vibe they've went for... Spot on, HOWEVER running a hoover over the staircase we were sat next to would be a good start on cleanliness especially when it's eye level with our table. We began our dining experience by placing a drinks order which reached us quickly and then we ordered food, which to be honest tasted great, fresh and was very good value for money BUT this is where we shortly arrived at our first issue. The service was so extremely slowwwwww, it didn't seem busy at all but with only one waiter covering 5/6 tables, serving food, cleaning, serving drinks etc the real issue in this place felt like staffing as once we'd been served our mains we felt forgotten about as the wait times between courses was lengthy but with only one waiter what else could really be done .... Dessert was mediocre at best and tasted like pre-made chocolate brownie, shop bought sauce and Mr whippy ice cream, nothing special at all. Maybe evening meals here would be better if there's more waiting staff serving the tables because the main meal itself was tasty it's just a shame the dessert was so poor, wait times between courses were lengthy and the cleanliness on that staircase looked like something from the Lost Arc in Indiana Jones.

We turned up on a sunny day attracted by the available tables in the beer garden area. It was around 3.30pm on a Friday and there were plenty of seats. We were warmly greeted inside by a blonde girl - I think her name was Ailsa - I really couldn't compliment her highly enough!!! We ordered a pizza to share between my husband and son, a side of loaded fries, a kids chicken goujons and a BBQ chicken burger. The service wasn't quick but it wasn't anything excessive either. Only thing I would say is the waitress who brought out our meals wasn't very on the ball, we were looking for condiments and cutlery and she walked away from the table as quick as a flash after dropping off the last of our food and we had to really call her to get her attention back. Food was so good my husband ordered another pizza 😂 and the kids got brownies for pudd. Bill came to just under the £80. Toilets are really very lovely here too btw!

Going to be honest-- originally went to this restaurant for a bit of a laugh since my friend and I are both from the U.S. and the theme of the restaurant is around the "Wild West". We found it amusing. I am fully impressed with the staff here though, and was so grateful to them for the kindness and care they showed my friend while navigating her many allergens. Their food shipment was running late, so the item on the menu we knew she could eat wasn't going to work out due to the late delivery. They were able to navigate through other options with her and ended up creating a specially designed meal for her without soy, dairy, beef protein, or gluten and did is with such care and grace. Food was good, people were great. Really appreciated our experience there.

It’s hard to rate this as it’s our favourite place to eat but lately Stirling has been a major let down.

1st visit this year was just before year on a Saturday. We arrived at 1205pm. Door was open so wandered in and the place was empty and quiet. Chef in the kitchen but no server or bar area which was odd. Sat down and around 15 mins later a manager appeared and sheepishly told us they weren’t open yet despite it being past opening time and the doors being open. Apparently they had staff sickness which was understandable. She stared at us for longest time and I said awkwardly oh do we need to leave and she hesitated before saying no but it would be another 30 mins before they would be ready. Again another awkward silence…basically she wanted us out. So I said we would leave. We were happy to wait but felt so uncomfortable that we went else where. No offer to try and keep us and made us feel so unwelcome. This was a dinner for my sons birthday and for a party of 6.

2nd visit. This was during last week. We entered at 6pm on a Tuesday and there were a good few tables filed. It was nice to see it busy for a change during week. We were seated then re seated when a big table came in. It suddenly got so busy!!! There was one guy serving. Seating. Delivering food. Taking payments and clearing tables. He was stressed. He took our order 40 mins later. I was getting picked up at 730 and couldn’t get a hold of my left to change this. By 7 we still hadn’t been serve. Not many had. Food lay under the food lamp for ages. The poor server was running about daft. By 715 I could see we were still 4 orders to go and there was one chef. I had to cancel my order. The poor server apologised and offered to comp my drink which I refused as it’s not his fault and I could see he was struggled. He was fantastic and even dealt with an undercooked chicken issue well. With one chef on and one server it was chaos.

3rd visit was yesterday. It was nice and busy but again only one lady serving. Another one came in at 1pm. The new menu is great however the chicken tenders were greasy which left a horrible mush at the bottom of my chicken and mac. Chips were then soggy as a result. Burgers arrived first and chips around 13 minutes later. By which point most had finished their burgers. Great big portions though and attentive lovely servers.

Feedback for every visit!! Turn on your heating. The place is always freezing in Stirling.

I love Mjs. So does my 7 year old. It just we’ve not had a proper positive...

We got this delivered to us and it was a one star experiance. The second star is because I believe this could've been a 5 star experiance quite easily.

First of the pricing, for near £8 for most of their burgers youd think the addition of a £5/6 side of chips would be suitable to share. Well it was "enough" for me and my partner it wasnt the gourmet we had hoped/paid for.

Our salad was seasoned slightly by what tasted like cleaning substances. Though delicious otherwise. Halloumi sticks were amazing, but cold and came without the side sauce that it said it would come with. The total of our order was near £30 and rather underwhelming in quality and quantity (for that price we could've ordered a full feast from Istanbul-which for a greasy take away you should consider if you haven't already tried it).

So we would still be willing to give out a 4 star rating at this point. However we waited an hour and a half for the food to arrive. A time length that made us consider driving round and eating in at the place instead. We had consumed our post dinner treats and watched the entirety of a feature length film prior to the dinners arrival.

When it did arrive, we were famished and ready to find out what £7 of burger tastes like only to be greated by some "love hearts" sweeties (which I'm sure are adorable and cute when you haven't waited through the whole of '17 Again' to eat your dinner) getting past this appetizer we found the boxes smaller than wed expected. Which had it been warm would have had a chance to impress us.

I was pleasantly surprised that the macaroni on the burger wasnt a bland tasteless affair but rather a delightfully seasoned sauce that paired great with my bacon and burger. Though some more cheese would be required before I chose this over my favourite local chippy burger.

My partners burger was burnt and "Luke-warm" and that's all I can get as a description so I dont think it tasted particularly good or I'd have more details for you in this review. She mentions it was dry too as I read this section out to her. The chips, I can do better in a microwave or with a bag of McCains. To be fair I wouldn't be able to serve them with clumped grilled on cheese or pulled BBQ beef but I could serve them hot which is more than I can say from...
