Having been here a couple of years ago where I thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips, I decided to take my sister and grandson when they came to visit. Firstly the customer service was non existent. When we eventually ordered our meal we did get it fairly quickly however for £15.50 the presentation and the quality of the food was disgusting. The chips were hard and the fish was greasy, soggy and had no taste whatsoever. I only ate a third of it. The Tartar sauce had obviously been in the pot uncovered for hours as it had a skin on the top. When the meal was brought out the waiter also brought a bottle of HP sauce and a bottle of Heinz tomato ketchup. Both bottles were full but the inside caps were covered in congealed sauce and neither of them were the original sauce. They had been filled with a cheap alternative. Not once did anyone come to see how are meal was and if I wasn’t with my grandson I would have said something but I didn’t want to embarrass him. The decor has become very tired and worn and the toilets were filthy. Never again will I go back to Nardini’s and to top it all when we eventually got the bill they had added 10% service charge.

Went on a fairly busy Monday which is fair for service to not be as quick so was totally cool with that. What wasn't cool was when me and my partner took our seats, no one came to ask for our order for at least half an hour and when we pulled a waiter who was quite clearly working hard to serve everyone, he didn't seem to be in a very good mood. It then took another 20 minutes for my partner and myself to receive our order and when it did come, I received the wrong thing but at that point had been waiting so long I didn't make a fuss. The food we were served was great! What really brought me down was when I went to the gents toilet, which was filthy with tissue and other things all over the place, about 4 members of staff were sitting talking amongst themselves at the ice cream station. The staff were generally pleasant when we spoke to them but clearly wanted to be anywhere else than serving customers or cleaning toilets that day.

I love going to Nardini's with my wife either for quick bite or an evening meal. It doesn't matter whether it's a busy weekend or not, the staff never disappoints and nor does the meal. Vegetarians don't have a massive selection but do have some options. Food is always fresh, tasty and nicely presented. Portion sizes are good. And of course there's the ice cream. Can't compare it to anything else - you just need to try it. Prices I'd say are average. Plenty of parking spaces across the street. However, on a very busy day you might have to wait for a spot, but I never had to wait longer than 10 minutes. Last time I was there it was £1 for up to an hour, £3 for up to 3 hours and £4 for the whole day. There's an entrance for wheelchair users. The only reason I give this place 4 stars is because their toilets are getting worse every time I visit. They are dirty, smelly and definitely need a major upgrade.

My sister and I met cousins for lunch here, it was Sunday at 1 pm. I had a bad experience the last time I went with my friend being sick within 30 mins of eating. However, that was a few years ago, so when my cousin suggested here, I thought we'd give it another try. The service was terrible. Whilst our sandwiches came quite quickly, we had to ask 3 times for our drinks. Eventually, they came after I had finished all, but on the bite of my sandwiches. The third time we asked, the server was verging on down right rude. The only apology we got was from the young chap who eventually brought us the drinks, and I thanked him for his apology. We also asked for our Latties to be extra hot. My sisters was only lookwarm. In respect of the atmosphere, we had come to chat to our cousins but just as we sat down, someone started to play the grand piano, rather mediocre at that. It was awful, we could hardly hear what was being said. After eating, we all had headaches and couldn't wait to leave. The food was OK, £13 each for a sandwich and coffee, but for such a supposedly renowned restaurant it was nothing note worthy. The little bit of side salad had no dressing and about 7 or 8 little crisps. The bread was "The doorstep" variety, which isn't everyone's choice. I will never go back here. There are so many lovely cafés in Largs and I will choose them instead. Oh, and the parking at the restaurant is tiny and you're never likely to get in so that doesn't encourage you to go there either. My cousin also has mobility issues and there are steps at the front (which wasn't open after we climbed the stairs), steps to the restaurant at the side entrance and we then had to go all the way around to the rear side...

Did contact Nardinis before leaving this review but zero response from them sums up my 1 star review

Took my son in for some lunch last week. I ordered soup and a sandwich combo, my little boy ordered nuggets and chips.

No real issues with his food. I had asked about the soup of the day...was told it was some sort of Spanish potato and rice which I went for...it came out and it was more like tomato. Wasn't for me so the soup got left which is fine as not everyone likes the same stuff.

The issue I have with this situation, is that nobody at any point whilst walking past 20 times asked if the food was ok, or even if the soup was ok as it was visibly left at the side of the table, or lastly if I would like to order anything else. I wasn't looking for a free soup or meal, but it would have been nice to be asked if I would have liked to of ordered something else instead of sat there un satisfied with a cold, average at best sandwich.

We then finished our meal and on paying it seemed a bit steep but I didn't question it as I didn't want to make a fuss (also just wanted out asap as I was still a bit annoyed about only getting a sandwich). It wasn't until I counted it up after leaving that I realised we had been over charged by just under a fiver.

This made even more annoying by the fact the service was terrible and the fact I was technically overcharged for a soup I never even ate.

I then emailed them withing 20minutes of leaving, asking for my bill to be explained as I believed it had been miscalculated only to be ignored by them.

So for me, this interaction merits 1 star.

I will be back for ice cream to take away certainly but i think it's the last I'll sit in for any mediocre, over...

1/2 star for the ice cream, 1/2 star for entertaining us with the embarrassing service/ cleanliness/ disorganisation.

Everything else…. Well what on earth is this place 😂 walking in and it’s clear it’s an absolute shambles of a business. service was embarrassing, not even sure the waiter knew where he was. Didn’t introduce himself and hardly said 3 words to us, then left us to call over another waiter as he clearly forgot about us 😭he also looked so scruffy, no badge or uniform. Looks like you walked into a 70’s restaurant. Saw a Member of staff furiously cleaning cutlery instead of serving the tables that walked in, we waited over 20 minutes, then had to call another waiter who had just seated and took the order of another table who arrived about 15 mins after us!!

They didn’t even clean the table before we sat down, they literally gave us the most cheap cutlery that school children would use. The menus look so outdated, all staff wearing different clothing so no idea of who is in charge, clearly no sectioning for waiting staff so they were all running around like headless chickens!

Probably the most pathetic and embarrassing place I’ve eaten in, thank god we didn’t eat anything apart from the sundaes. The fish and chips looked worse than school dinners!

Wine tastes like cheap £5 wine, didnt ask us how everything was until we had nearly finished. £70 decent icecream but nothing more, looked so dirty and old!!! DO NOT GO HERE!

Would like a response from the...
