The good: Haddock tasted good and was hot/fresh! Chips were decent and were hot/fresh Sitting at tables is nice looking out at the Sea (apart from the dive bombing seagulls)

The Bad: Stingy/Poor Portion of Chips with the "full works" option. I expected a much more generous portion especially for cost! Wasn't clear where to order, stood at front of the Fish Works and waited a good while before eventually being told by a young member of staff to order inside of building instead. Most of the staff I seen working there looked extremely young, and the poor customer service and portions reflected this, and it was clear staff are not being trained properly in the most basic of things... Haddock was small and a bit greasy/over battered. At almost an eye watering £22 for just two Haddock suppers and nothing else it's overpriced for what you get unfortunately, haddock received was small and so was portion of chips! If they gave two large pieces of Haddock and a much better portion of Chips then it would just maybe be worth the asking price but only 1 full bit and a quarter of fish with limited chips in both Haddock suppers is NOT worth almost £22 in a million years... It's just ripping people off... And if you don't change this and offer better value for money you won't have customers coming back... Overall 3 stars out of 5!⭐⭐⭐

If they listen and take on this feedback and improve with better portions, customer service and fairer prices I have no doubt you would receive more 4/5 star reviews and keep customers...

1st time trying after passing many times and seeing all the awards we had high expectations, unfortunately these weren't met, we went in on Monday 10th March lunchtimeish, at first we thought they're was a few people waiting inside, but it seemed it was non customers gathered for a chat but making the already small inside area awkward and cramped to even get by them. We wanted a Cod Supper and the Six for 6 Squid, they had no Cod (again disappointing this early in their day) so we opted for a haddock supper, the haddock supper was rather small compared to other places with only 1 thin piece of fish and at this price point you would expect more, the fish was nice, but the chips were awful, and chewy and we left most of them: certainly not what we were expecting, the squid was ok although very greasy, so overall really disappointing, and my local chippy in Glasgow does far better with bigger portions at a better price, and the Viking across the road in our experience has always been good in comparison, maybe it was just an off day, and they must have been in better form when they've been judged for their awards, but we wouldn't be in a rush to go back unless there was no other alternatives based on...

Tried here today after being recommended it by someone.

Fantastic location- nice seating and well presented on outside but really confusing as to where to order and where to collect etc- multiple people ended up waiting in wrong place ourselves included.

Ordered the smoked haddock full works and haggis fritters middle option. £17 ( to nearest pound) which seemed a little steep with it being a supper and a half but we appreciate cost of living and location etc.

Fish supper was tiny 1.5 bits of fish and I am being very generous with the .5 element- and barely any more chips than the smaller portion.

Ironically two people raised this about their portions while we waited.

Medium haggis supper is one fritter and again a mesely offering of chips.

The fish was tasty but the spray vinegar has a strange taste to it and the batter was very greasy- after taste wasn’t great but fish did seem good quality.

Chips were meh- not the worst not the best.

Haggis fritter was horrible- like a large haggis burger greasy thick batter not quite cooked and slimy haggis.

Really...

If you're looking for the perfect spot to grab some delicious fish and chips in Largs, Scotland, look no further than The Fish Works! Located near the ferry line, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the ferry arriving and leaving while enjoying your meal. The quality of the food at The Fish Works is top-notch. The fish is smoothly battered and fresh, and the chips are perfectly fried. It's hard to find anything to complain about when the food is this good! But what really sets The Fish Works apart is the fantastic service provided by Ozkan, His charming personality and brilliant sense of hospitality make for an unforgettable experience Even though the prices are a bit high, the quality of the food and service, not to mention the charm of Ozkan, make it all worth it. So next time you're in Largs, be sure to stop by The Fish Works for a truly unforgettable dining experience. You won't regret it!

I am not a fan of fish and chips at all, far too often they’re greasy, flavourless, lack in all flavour of fish and chips. The fish works however, absolutely brilliant ! A generous portion of haddock over a bed of beautiful chips - and the best thing: absolutely no grease left on the bottom at all. Served with a lovely house made tartar sauce and mushy peas, with lashings of salt and vinegar and a lemon wedge on top. Serviced by 3 wonderful young members of polite, well mannered staff, and best of all - a smile. We ate by the bay, a lovely environment, with even lovelier food. Worth mentioning, the pricing, a large fish supper, tartar sauce, mushy peas, 2 cans of sweet nectar (Iron Bru), and another portion of chips - £21.20, fantastic value for money. I could not recommend The Fish Works highly enough, thank you to your wonderful, cheery staff!

Great fish and chips. Freshly made. Fish has a crisp thin batter. Clearly everything is well thought out. A nice touch is the vinegar is sprayed onto your hot fish which gives an aroma of vinegar without it going soggy. Optional and delicious Home made tartar sauce and a slice of lemon too on your fish. (I don't know why all chippys don't offer lemon) Very busy, and everything is made to order so be prepared to wait. It is worth it. The fish is fresh from the local pier and the chips are hand cut from potatoes whose origin are also proudly declared. Nice interior, with 2 wee tables. Plenty of tables outside on the prom which have stunning sunset views if the weather is on your side. A welcome addition to the Largs seafront. Give it a go.
