My visit to Spitfire cafe was nothing short of a nightmare. I've never encountered such a disastrous dining experience in my life. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this place had no intention of providing even a basic level of service.
The service was not just slow; it was like watching a snail race in slow motion. We waited what felt like an eternity before anyone even acknowledged our presence. The waiter who finally decided to grace us with his attention was not only disinterested but downright rude. It's as if he saw us as an inconvenience rather than paying customers.
But the incompetence didn't stop there. Not only did the waiter manage to take our order once, but he also somehow managed to take it again, as if to rub salt in the wound. And yet, despite this double order, our food never materialized. We watched with growing frustration as other tables received their meals while we sat there hungry and forgotten.
I can't help but wonder if the kitchen staff at Spitfire cafe were engaged in some kind of culinary experiment to test the limits of human patience. It's baffling how a place that claims to be a cafe can fail so spectacularly at the most basic function of providing sustenance.
I implore anyone reading this review to stay far, far away from Spitfire cafe. Save yourself the frustration, the time, and the money. There are countless other dining establishments in the area that actually value their customers and strive to provide a pleasant experience. Spitfire cafe, on the other hand, seems determined to drive customers away with their abysmal service, rude staff, and mind-boggling...
Read moreThree nights at Celtic Collections. Day 1, breakfast in Z Hotel, microwaved breakfast brick (sorry, should read “brioche”)!
Day 2, breakfast at Spitfire Espresso The “breakfast brick” proved to be the high point... “Pity Greggs was shut....” “Must have been a staff training day at the Spitfire...” “Poor, working (slowly) towards average would sum the review up”
Day 3, out of pity, decided it couldn’t be that bad two days in a row and went back..... .......and so should you, what a fabulous breakfast, the Lancaster Bomber was the only food I’d needed since having another the day before. The Fat White (and that’s no yoke) was tremendous, necessitating a second.
On their way from “poor” to “average” they need to slam the plates down a bit more, placing half the breakfast on the table and similarly, wobble the cups a bit more such that half of it ends up in the saucer.
No matter how many days in a row you go, you will not be disappointed by the food, drink or atmosphere in the place....
As my old car share pal, Ernie, said, daily, “y're a lang time deed”, and this is one place you need to go before you are.
2/10😄😄😄😄😄
PS one of the staff was caught smiling....but that’s...

We walked in and felt unwelcome straight away, was approached by a member of staff carrying a tablet. He looked irritated, questioned how many people were joining my table. I told him it’ll be 8 and I asked if it was okay to grab a few chairs, he said “well it’ll have to be…” with a scowl. If it wasn’t raining outside we would’ve all left and went somewhere else.
He came back and asked for our order, standing far away in one corner of the table and kept asking us to speak louder. I gestured and told him to walk around the table closer to hear us individually instead of standing in one corner far away.
We eventually got our drinks and cakes. However I had to remind a member of staff that we’re still missing one drink.
This isn’t the Spitfire I used to enjoy visiting. I couldn’t believe how rude and unpleasant that member of staff was.
Glasgow has many brilliant coffee shops with friendly welcoming staff, no one should make customers feel so unwanted. Won’t...
