Visited for the first time in between lunch and dinner rush. The entrance is outside Silverburn and there're a lot of stairs to navigate once you're in but also a lift if needed. Wasn't a fan of the layout and we ended up in a rather enclosed booth that was supposed to seat 4 but if so, it would have been very cosy! I think it's just your luck where you end up seated but I personally am nosey and like to people watch which was a definite no from our seats and really affected the atmosphere in all honesty. The menu is great. Good selection but as we're from Ayrshire, we're very familiar with the variety of sister restaurants (which we love by the way) and my first impression was - this is expensive in comparison to their other ventures. HOWEVER, just look at the pictures...the portions are huge and effort is definitely put into making the food more presentable etc than if I'd gone to the likes of the Hollybush and ordered steak pie. The food was really lovely and worth the money. Service was quick i but the restaurant was anything but busy because of the time we dined at but it was friendly. My only gripe, and just to be nitpicky, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, but the server came to clear my partner's plate away before I had finished (and it was obvious) but no big deal as I literally took my last mouthful when she was at the table so she then took my plate away also. But then we were never asked if we wanted anything else, no look at the dessert menu, no more drinks etc. We were left sitting feeling quite awkward until we were asked if we were "okay", at which point we just asked for the bill, which was promptly brought. I can only assume it's because it's a new restaurant. Anyway, wouldn't call the service bad. Food was brought promptly and it was great so can't complain. I'd recommend visiting here if you're in Silverburn but I personally still prefer their other ventures (Hollybush and the Stagedoor are my...
Read moreWe met friends here a couple of weeks ago on their recommendation. Highly recommend. Our friends made the booking and let the restaurant know that I am in a wheelchair and undergoing cancer treatment, so I would need to be at a table away from other diners if possible. When we arrived we were greeted at the ground floor desk by a lovely lady. We explained that our friends had already arrived and were waiting for us. The lady was very polite and showed us to the accessible lift, then met us at the top to show us to the table. This was perfectly positioned with beautiful glass screens (part of the decor), so we were not directly next to other tables. I had the soup (unfortunately too spicy for me as I suffer from nasty mouth ulcers due to chemotherapy), but I know the two others who had it said it was delicious (I will try it again once I have finished my treatment). The waitress was more than happy for me to order the side dish of mac n cheese as I knew I wouldn't be able to eat a full portion. It was very creamy, cheese with perfectly cooked pasta. The amount was just right and I enjoyed every bite. One of our friends ordered the mac n cheese but gluten free and she really enjoyed it, as did everyone. There is a great selection for those wanting gluten free and vegetarian meals. Service was excellent, food superb, atmosphere relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble. Was lovely to be on a balcony overlooking part of the shopping centre. Will be back when we are over...
Read moreI came here on Wednesday with my mother and sister for breakfast. They had came a few weeks ago and were really happy with the food and service - but this time we weren’t very pleased.
My sister ordered the Nine piece breakfast but only received Six items. We questioned this with the waiter that brought our food and he felt very dismissive and rude, so we asked to speak with the waitress that took the food order. She blamed the mistake on the kitchen staff, and told us she would only charge my sister for the Six piece.
When the bill came my sister was charged for a Nine piece, when she only got the Six items. The waitress then blamed the kitchen staff for this again - how can the kitchen staff be blamed for the bill being wrong?! Everyone makes mistakes at work, so the waitress could have just told us she made a mistake which we would have accepted - instead she decided to blame someone else for her mistakes. Personally I find this ridiculous.
Every staff member we dealt with was unpleasant aside from the redheaded girl at the door that seated us - she was extremely friendly. The food itself was nothing special and tasted like what you could buy from a supermarket.
I won’t be returning solely because of the waitress blaming other people for her mistake, and the extremely rude and dismissive waiter that...
