Diabolical. £80 for my wife and I - just ONE course each and a bottle of wine. Not cheap so I expected decent food. It was awful so I complained and we both left most of it. The manager refused to come out to discuss so I told the waiter I would leave £50 which was far more than the food was worth and my name and address so they could take it further if they wished. They called the police and two of Glasgow's finest (?) youngsters told me I was committing a criminal offence (which I wasn't) and they could arrest me if I didn't pay the full amount (which would have been false arrest!). The bobbies told me I had contracted to pay the full amount when I ordered, but did not understand my comment that a contract has to be two sided and the supplier has to provide suitable quality food. In England it is a civil matter - Scotland has different laws? Good luck to independence! I paid under protest and have complained now to the Glasgow police. Their liaison officer has said the constables were correct - which they were not - so it will now go further as the police:- Should not give legal advice if they do not know the law They should seek superior advice if challenged (politely) They should not threaten false arrest (now THAT is illegal) Their complaints handling staff should be apprised of the law before making yet more false declarations The whole evening was pathetic. My Glasgow friend who I visited the next day was horrified at the poor conduct all round - saying that Glasgow was trying to attract tourists and all this should never have happened. I agree, and this does NOT happen in Eng;land by the way. Anyway the Celtic fans in the town centre the next day were friendly - in distinct contrast to the restaurant and police - maybe the Thai Orchid and police should learn from the football fans how to treat visitors - now that would be a turn up for...
Read moreDisappointed. The entrée and starters started out very promising and we're delicious and the house wine was lovely. But then I ordered a traditional main dish of chicken thai spicy basil. It arrived and was served without the basil. I instantly noticed having lived in thailand for a long period and politely questioned the waiter who assured me it was 'basil infused'. He offered to include more basil as he observed I was wasn't satified, bless him. He returned with the dish from the kitchen from the chefs who had informed him that they actually had no fresh basil in the kitchen all along and offered to change for another dish. I felt mislead and cheated given the initial contradictive explanation. By that point, people were staring and I felt awkward and emarrassed so I said it was fine. But then just after settling the bill, I overheard another table just two down order the same dish with the same waiter receiving the order who didn't inform the customers they had run out of basil. The poor customer service and dishonesty ruined what seemed to be a promising meal. Given this and the considerable consequent price tag, I won't be back and wouldn't recommend this restaurant for its lack of integrity...
Read moreThe restaurant seems like recently refurbished. It is located in the glasgow city centre.
Speaking of the staff, they were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
The food - it was simply delicious. We ordered a variety of classic Thai dishes, including scallops, pad thai, green curry, and tom yum, among others, and each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The ingredients were fresh and well-cooked, and the spices were perfectly balanced to create a truly authentic Thai taste.
Overall, I would highly recommend this Thai restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic dining...
