My friend had a luncheon gift voucher for 2 and we visited on a Saturday afternoon 3 weeks ago. It's been tastefully decorated and the ambience is very upmarket. We had some non alcoholic cocktails instead of wine for a change. As mine was ginger beer based I asked our drinks waitress if it was possible to have the sugar free option to be informed that was not possible. My friend ordered the fish and home cut chips and the portion was huge. The fish was so fresh and the hand cut chips were actually home made wedges served with fresh tartar sauce on the side. I had the anchor line salad with courgette, apples, celery and walnuts. The dressing was very creamy but there was lots of it so I should have asked for it on the side. My friend had the cheesecake of the day which was gorgeous and I had the mango cremeux which was as light as a feather. They do accompanying cocktails but we decided to give them a miss today. The service was spot on as they had plenty of staff. It was quiet when we arrived but every table was filled when we left. There was hand sanitiser at the door and the QR codes for track and trace was on the menus although we weren't asked to do this( I usually do) and all the staff had masks on. The toilet facilities are easily found in the basement and were scrupulously clean and looked like the ones found on an ocean liner. I heard the piano from there and realised that the sound system to the bathrooms were linked. All in all it did make me feel like a first class passenger on an ocean going ship from year gone by. Loved every...

Dined here a couple of nights ago for my partners birthday. The food and drinks were really nice and we both loved the decor and ambience. The service was quick (in a way possibly too quick, it felt a bit like the staff were trying to get out as quickly as possible) but nonetheless friendly. A couple of things; I wrote on my booking in the comments that it was my partners birthday and was hoping they would take the time to wish her a happy birthday , maybe even offer a wee glass of Prosecco. I got this when it was my birthday when we dined at a different restaurant, of course it’s not any restaurant’s obligation to do this but choosing that restaurant to eat at for your birthday is a special thing and would have been nice for the Anchor Line to recognise this.

Another thing , sort of a pet peeve of mine when a waiter doesn’t use a notepad and then gets the order wrong ; which is what happened when ordering my first drink. A similar sort of drink was brought ; well same main component but the one I ordered was the disarrono espresso so very different to the disarrono fizz that was brought.

Also regarding the food I don’t think the garlic butter with the steak should have been melted; it looked like what the steak should have been cooked in rather that as a dip - made the steak when dipping it in very oily!

Only minor things I suppose but could...

Booked this restaurant last Wednesday morning and could only get 9.30pm. My Bf was traveling up from England who AVE not seen in a year,he arrived at my house at 6pm and we booked the premier Inn a George Square shortly after,I had 2 drinks and was looking forward to a nice meal out we left premier at 9pm and walked along to restaurant which is like 5 mins away,we waited to be seated and the we walked along the full length of restaurant till we had turned a corner and I slipped,my left leg went straight in front of me to which I went right down,I was helped up with my Bf which I was in agony and helped to the table,I was shaking and in severe pain a young waiter came over to take a drinks order,we ordered and then we're told by the manager that we were not getting served alcohol then she came 5 mins later to fill in an accident book. We ended up leaving as the pain was to severe and I felt really sick but was so embarrassed with management on this issue. I work with a local authority and never have felt so degraded in all my life. We returned to hotel which I limped all the way. I have seen my doctor twice to which I have ruptured my hamstring and am severally bruised from my bum cheek all the way down to my calf and will take months to heal my doctor...

The building is very central right off George Square, the design and layout set the atmosphere perfectly. The bar area is classic and well laid out. Through in the dinning area the design continues with pictures and decorations fitting for the theme. The staff from the moment we entered were friendly and very accommodating. The food was excellent and they allowed time between courses to enjoy what you had eaten. There was a good selection of cocktails and spirits to find something for everyone's taste. We had chosen to eat earlier in the evening so our table was to be returned for the next service which was expected, before our allotted time our excellent waitress informed us that she would reserve us a table at the bar if we wished, a great touch. We had used itison for a deal so the price was very reasonable also. We enjoyed a great night of food and drinks and we will be visiting again

Had an interesting bittersweet feeling about this restaurant. My honest review and I’m a fussy eater. 1. Came in and wasn’t exactly given great service. Got seated by the corner booth. 2. Ordered 4 appetisers for 2. Did not like the portion of the soup (it was too big and filing), however, their signature salad is good. I would not recommend the scallop. I would also highly recommend the black pudding. 3. Had the rib eye as main, not as great as I thought. It was slightly dry but great taste. Now here’s the thing. At the end, the Ukrainian Manager actually came out, and kept asking me about the dining experience. It felt sincere and I really like that. It’s little things like these, that makes a great restaurant. The reason why I rated a five star was because of her. Would I come back? A definite yes.

Restaurant was booked for 5:30pm on a Saturday, was very busy and people were getting turned away at the door due to being at capacity and not having a reservation. Would advise booking ahead. Despite how busy it was the overall atmosphere and mood was relaxed within. Fillet steak topped with Pressed black pudding & ham hough, skinny fries, peppercorn sauce and cherry tomatoes. I felt the plate looked a bit underwhelming and could have been accompanied with some more veg or onion rings/loaf or a smaller plate, despite the disappointment with presentation the meal tasted fantastic. Pricey but not more than you would expect in the city centre. Toilets located downstairs and a bit of an adventure to get there. Recommended
