Spotted this pub online and travelled down from Inverness to try it for ourselves. It was packed out because of the rugby and was really noisy but managed to get hold of a young very slim lad with dark hair who helped me with my enquiries. He was a wee darling small and really young looking but a lovely approachable manner. Found a table to share and was very impressed by the choice of food. My fiance had the macaroni cheese with garlic bread and a side order of seasoned fries. I decided to go for the Irish ham chips peas and fried egg. Went to the bar and got served with this gorgeous lass with blonde hair and dimples and again excellent service. Very friendly positive girl and being so busy we expected a long wait but it wasn't long till out food arrived. The server was another tall slim dark haired girl and she too was just amazing! The food was just brilliant! The macaroni was proper old school oozing with cheese and I'd to restrain myself not to eat all of it! My Irish ham had a lovely crumb coating on it and a lovely generous portion. Every single customer sitting in round or near us spoke to us and it was such a genuinely friendly pub with a fantastic atmosphere. Loads and loads of rugby fans in and such a good natured bunch. Special thanks to the chef who despite being busy was absolutely bossing it like a seasoned pro. Extremely hard working team and they were all working like navvies. One of the first questions I was asked was did we have any allergies or intolerances which I thought was a fantastic idea. Thanks to everyone for making Auctioneers such an amazing experience and every single dish we saw being served looked absolutely...
Read moreI'm not sure about it now tbh. Hate this whole hipster look pubs are going for now says. The dark look, alot of wood, ton of IPA lagers with a ton of other random lagers that you've never heard off with stupid names. Bacon in so many dishes. Picnic benches. Chips served in tin dishes that look like they are for your cutlery to dry at a sink. My biggest issue is letting people stand at the bar even tho they have drinks and limits space for people trying to get drinks and they never make it easy for you and make you feel like you are invading their space by staring at you and moaning under their breathe.
But there isn't a hipster price tag for food (most dishes are under £10) and drinks from £2.99. staff are nice. Plenty of space and a good atmosphere when it comes to football. They took away the giant screen but have 2 good sized TVs in one area and a few smaller ones on the other area including ones right at the table on the wall. Just glad there isn't a bookcase full of books nobody ever heard (or that I noticed) and stupid billboards outside like 'good mood? Bad mood? Drink helps with either' etc. Menu is varied with burgers, pizzas, steaks, and classics like fish...
Read moreOur work Christmas night out kicked off at this pub, and it set the perfect tone for the evening. Despite it being a bustling Friday night, luck was on our side, and we managed to secure a table just as a family were leaving. The lively atmosphere only added to the excitement of the occasion.
What truly stood out was the convenience of the 'order at the table' feature. This innovative service allowed us to skip the crowded bar and effortlessly order our drinks right from our seats. The process was smooth, quick, and error-free, ensuring that we could focus on enjoying the festivities rather than waiting in line.
Not only were the drinks reasonably priced, but they also arrived promptly, further contributing to the overall positive experience. Though our time at the pub was relatively short, it served as the ideal starting point for our night out.
For anyone planning a visit, especially during peak times, I highly recommend booking in advance to secure a table. It's a small effort that guarantees a comfortable spot and allows you to make the most of your time at this fantastic venue. Cheers to a great start...
