My partner and myself decided to travel through to Perth from Dundee for an afternoon outing. We decided to pop into The Foundry for a spot of lunch before doing some shopping. First impression was good, seemed quite busy for a Saturday afternoon. Atmosphere was great, bustling wee pub inside. Warm and well kept. Ordered drinks first, draught cola seemed to be lacking any flavour, not sure if the syrup had maybe run out as it was draught however didn’t want to mention anything as I didn’t want to cause a fuss. Absolutely ravenous we decided on what we were having and ordered through the app for convenience and decided to order starters first, we went for the 3 plates for £13 - we ordered the halloumi fries, haggis fritters and the loaded cheeseburger fries. We waited over 45 minutes for these starters to arrive and when partner asked the barmaid if the food was going to be much longer she was abrupt towards him stating she only had one chef on and then walked away, food arrived shortly after we had asked what was happening, the food was presented well however it was cold. At this point I had already ordered our mains but after the interaction with the member of staff we regretted ordering anything else. No surprise another 45 minutes later our mains arrived, I had a sirloin steak with a fried egg, chips and a tomato with the peppercorn sauce and partner opted for the hunters chicken. Both mains were cold, rubbery chicken that was tough (partner is the least fussy person in the world and never complains or leaves any food) had to dispose of chicken in a napkin that he could not eat. Steak was similarly disappointing, ordered it medium and the tiny strip that did arrive was as tough as old boots, chewy and cold. Not worth £18 odd in my opinion. Good atmosphere however staff lacking in any basic customer service skills, completely understand the pressure if understaffed however this should not be taken out on customers. The barmaid we had the interaction with in particular was very rude, she was storming around the establishment clearly not able to cope with the pressure and we noticed we weren’t the only ones that she shouted at and was rude to. It’s a shame as we usually like our local Greene King in Dundee, however not sure we will...
Read moreBeen here quite a few times. It was actually my little niece who I was looking after that day that chose the place for lunch. First choice of seating the area smelt of old stale beer dirty mops and a pungent cleaning product! We weren't put off & moved up to the carpeted area which for a disabled person like myself using a wheeled mobilizer is really unpractical because it's up a few stairs. It wasn't overly bright but wasn't too dimly lit either that it would pose a problem. Food was very tasty my niece had a kids pizza. She demolished it. Her words were once it was cooler its super tasty! I had the summer bowl salad with the salmon and sweetchilli sauce. The portion was decent but I think there could of been a few more salad leaves and salad bits there's was plenty pasta in cajun dressing. I had to ask for the sweet chilli sauce but it was really tasty & filling. The 2 lady's working on the day were very helpful and friendly. They were going above and beyond in being even helping my niece cut up her pizza. Thank you lady's for making her...
Read moreAs I was asked to say why I gave a disappointing review here are my reasons. Booked a table but wasn't busy and the staff weren't interested in us having a booking. 1 older guy and a young (seemed like a trainee on duty) The food order was wrong for 3 of the 4 orders and had to go back 1 order asked for rosemary chips (sure they got the chips from the wrong order (we ordered mash on 2 of the dishes) and we were told that was the only kind of chips they did) there were 2 or 3 different types of chips on the menu and were sure they just used the chips from the wrong order as we had a couple of chips under the mash. The atmosphere was a football pub, not a restaurant (the ad didn't say sports bar or we would never have gone in) The service, The young lad was not interested in customer service in any way shape or form. Parking is what it is as it is a city centre place and Perth is both poor for spaces and the spaces are very expensive per hour (not the...
