Very disappointing special occasion meal with a rude staff member. I spent a long time looking at reviews and chose The Spanish Butcher for a special occasion. Arrived 8.30pm and ordered 3 steaks and 1 burger. The friendly waitress explained that as we weren't ordering starters, there would be a wait for steaks due to the need for them to rest; no problem. We ordered 3 glasses of champagne. 45 minutes later, our food arrived. 2 steaks were ordered medium-rare and were delivered almost well-done. As these were £40 each, and this is a steak restaurant, I expected better and asked to return our steaks. The waitress apologised and explained new steaks would be cooked. 30 minutes later the new steaks arrived. These were cooked correctly (very different from previously) however the potato side had also been re-prepared and was now extremely undercooked. Fed up and hungry, we ate the steaks provided and ignored the potato. The waitress apologised in the interim and replenished 2 champagne glasses and explained dessert would be on the house. 2 desserts were ordered by our table, which were just okay. We then requested the bill. The bill had one dessert on it, and I called a waiter over and explained we had been told that due to our poor experience, desserts would be on the house. He abruptly explained that only the people who sent the steaks back would get free desserts and, as my father had eaten his steak, his dessert was not free. This seemed slightly ridiculous as I could have ordered the dessert and slid it across the table to him in which case. I explained I wasn't happy with this and asked for the dessert to be removed. I also explained that the two additional glasses of champagne we had been provided were not wanted (still full glasses at the time of paying the bill) and I would prefer if the value of 2 of the glasses we had actually ordered could be removed from the bill. At this point, the waiter made a bad situation worse by his customer service. He rolled his eyes, grunted and snatched the bill from me and walked off. When he returned, my husband asked if he could check the new bill, which the waiter did not seem happy to wait for. When paying, the card machine would not work, and without apology he just kept asking us if we had another card to pay with, which we did not. He eventually obtained another card machine and we paid. Terrible body language and customer service from this waiter, which just made the whole experience worse than it needed to be. Spoilt our...

9/8/20 I booked a table this afternoon and was disappointed with the selection that was available as I had heard good things about this place.it is definitely not child friendly at all, I thought it would of been OK for my 12 year old. but we like trying new places so we gave it a go, sat down ordered drinks and they managed to get that wrong even though the table we were sitting at was right next to the bar and didn't have far to walk to put the order in and apparently the ticket got lost or something, the bar was that close we could here the barman talk about us because we sent back what we asked for was a fresh orange and lemonade and what actually was high concentrated juice drink with a dribble of lemonade in it, we saw the bar man pour it BTW, my partner is diabetic this is why he was specific about his drink, there was much difficulty communicating with the server as there is a little bit of a language barrier, we also asked for still water for the table and was given tap water, and we ordered three burgers, burgers weren't the worst we had but were really well done and for some reason the lettuce n tomatoe were placed under the burger directly onto the bun which might seem a bit neurotic pointing this out but it made the bun all soggy and I ended up having to try and eat my burger with a knife n fork case of this, I appreciate how little some hospitality staff get paid so we still left a tip and not one person made eye contact with us, said thanks for coming, goodbye or anything like that not one person including our assigned waitress asked us how our meal was.my partner myself and my daughter felt as if we were in the way by being there and didn't like the feel from the staff at all , again very disappointed because I had heard that the meat was supposed to be good but sadly our...

Being an out of towner, I really wanted to try a good spot for my last dinner in Glasgow. A friend recommended this place, but it just didn't meet the expectations that I had after reading all of the amazing online reviews.

Pros: The place was easy to find. Amazing atmosphere! I loved the interior look and the overall vibe was great and modern. The cocktail menu was quirky and on theme. And the two drinks I had were very tasty. I appreciated the different option of cuts of meat that I haven't seen in the US before. I ordered the croquettes from the bar menu as an appetizer and it was the best thing of the whole night!

Cons: The food was severely under seasoned. I ordered the Galician fillet by recommendation of the waiter and told him my preferred temp (medium). Half of the steak was under and the other half slightly over. Not sure how that happens, but the undercooked part was just so unenjoyable because it was very chewy. I also ordered the potatoes and grilled asparagus. Both had absolutely no salt or flavor to them at all. Wait, I take that back. The potatoes had a strange, overpowering wood flavor that was very off-putting. And wood fired prepared wasn't in the description. Otherwise, I would've made a different choice. Thank goodness for the salt and pepper shakers on the table 😬 Finally, the waiter was super friendly and attentive in the beginning, but he was less and less after the first drink arrived. If it were a busy Thursday night, then I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but I was a one top table in a room with another two top.

Could this just have been a bad Thursday dinner? Possibly. Every restaurant has its off day like anyone else. Would I return here or recommend it? Probably not. It just didn't live up to the internet...

Disaster! We had a table for 2 people booked at 21:00 because 4 weeks ago that was all you could get! When we turned up the waiter had to explain that there was only a very small selection of items left on the menu (see the attached picture anything with a black dot but with a cross through it was sold out!!) None of the thing we actually booked the table for was available the presa Iberico pork. The excuse was they had a couple of very big tables in and they had used it all up. Well they should now who is coming because you can’t get a table at this place for love or money. We had to book 4 weeks in advance to get a table at 21:00 on a Saturday!! So they should know who is coming and have enough food in to offer a choice to all their customers no matter what time the table is booked for. Otherwise stop offering late tables!! We complained and finally the waiter came and said they had some pork left which they were keeping back for Sunday lunch however it was a 800 g cut and would be very expensive (funny that). We ordered this because this was why we went. However felt pressured into because there was very little left!! To make matters worse no one from the management came and apologised or even came and talked to us. Simply not acceptable. Overall a very disappointing experience not to be repeated. If you can get a table make sure you get a table before 8pm otherwise you will not eat!!
