Wintersgills Glasgow — Restaurant in Scotland

Visited here on a cold wet, snowy Saturday afternoon. Decided to visit the lounge rather than the bar, great decision, prices were reasonable, service was second to none (perhaps at this time of day the lack of customers proved a plus). Would definitely return, we were made to feel at home, the waitress (didn't catch her name) American I think, was first class, friendly, courteous and not being condescending, funny. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

This is an old traditional pub in the heart of Glasgow's West End on great western rd. It can be very noisy with its highly male clientele. The atmosphere is old school with a great ambiance and good old homely comfort Service was great, friendly staff and nearly all the food was excellent. The batter on the fish and halloumi was really crispy. Best dish was the sticky chicken fillets which had a lovely tangy taste. A popular pub with my friends in Europe and the UK, it was near my AirBnB residence while vacationing in Glasgow recently. I tried their macaroni and cheese with a side salad. Like most mac and cheese in the UK, it has no cheddar, just mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan. Still very good, and balanced with a green side salad. Service was great.
