I don't like posting negative reviews, but today's eat outside lunch was such a disappointment for us... I looked forward to visiting the cafe for the first time, as we'd read all the positive reviews. However, our experience wasn't positive. We ordered two soups with 'chunky' bread and a quiche which was supposed to be pepper and spring onion. I said we would sit outside. At no point was it explained to us that we would get a takeaway lunch in cartons... We got one soup instead of two, with one portion of plain white toast-type bread cut a bit thicker, and a quiche which was NOT the one we'd ordered - we got served the other one from the menu. We then had to tell the very rushed and quite unfriendly staff that we ordered 2 soups, had to wait quite a bit for the other one. No apologies given, first soup got colder, was very thin and one cup was less filled than the other. The quiche was small and soggy. We left hungry, £17 pounds for 2 soups and a small and unpleasant quiche portion did not offer us the value we expected, and we found the staff to be somehow struggling with organisation, and professional customer service. This is an absolute gem of a place! We stopped in here for lunch while on a walk with our dog and had the most beautiful lunch. We had a range of food in our group from hot dogs to soup to baked potato (and of course some of their delicious cakes and scones!) and everything was perfect - hot, cooked well and looked fabulous. The cakes were mouth watering. The prices are very reasonable and portions were good.

We were worried about our over friendly golden retriever annoying people but both the staff and customers made him so welcome with strokes and treats. It's only a minutes walk from the high street and from the coastal path and in a lovely little walled garden/park.

Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again when we're up visiting...

Found this little gem on Facebook and been wanting to visit for a while. We were in the area and decided on a very wet afternoon to pop in for late lunch. So glad we did, set in beautiful surroundings of a walled garden/park. Plenty seating outside for a lovely dry day. They have a little outside covered seating area for takeaway service. Inside seating is limited but comfortable. Table service inside and great choice of food as well as 3 soups and a hot dish on the specials board. Yummy cakes at the counter. Amazing hot chocolate to help warm you up on a wet or wintery day. Very dog friendly too, can't wait to return with my dogs...
