I am in customer service industry since last 15years. This is one of the clumsy customer service I have ever seen. Food is always fantastic, however manager is so rude and seems awkward while talking.
As we are regular customer of Akbar's, sometimes they hang board for cash only.
So if we don't have cash we go back to near by ATM and arrange cash.
Today also one of the scenario. Me and my wife dine with the dinner and I went out to withdraw cash to pay bill.
However, in ATM there were no cash and near by 2 ATM was temporarily closed.
So I called back my wife to talk to manager and update this scenario , if we can pay bank transfer as this is genuine cash and. Other ATM is open in Moor market almost 10mins of walking from Akbar's sheffield. However, manager was rude with my wife and he said no you have to get a cash only. Finally, I walked and get a cash from moor market ATM.
I came back and given my feedback that not always but oin this kind of situation ( genuine one ) atleast you must have an alternative option. So without saying sorry. He said if I was a customer then I will get cash first and come to restuarant.
You can understand the level of customer service with this single line.
I have given him an example that as I am working in aviation and as a customer if you come and my card machine will not work then would I tell you to get a cash first otherwise you can't board the flight ?
He said yes. This is what they called customer service. Other staff who served food was exceptionally well.
But captain of the ship ' manager' behave like this with customer then we have decided not to visit next time.
FYI Manager said his name is Maaz.
I am hoping to take a strict action against him as Akbar is always known for good customer service. But this kind of rude and clumsy behaviour we can't take it.
Hope management look into this issue with open eyes. As we are expecting high customer service...
Read moreIt was a Total Let Down !!! We booked a table for 7:30pm. On arriving at 7:25pm we were told there’s a waiting for 30 mins. Anyways, we were seated after the wait. The ambience was dingy with utter commotion. Tables were placed so close to each other that there was barely enough space to walk (probably to accommodate more guests). There was so much noise that to even speak to the person next to me, I had to literally raise my voice to be audible. Menu was very handsome with great variety. We ordered food and waited. One of the items we ordered was “Dal Makhani” and what we got was Chickpea Curry. On enquiring from the manager, he said “we call this dal makhani”. My next anxiety was that since we had ordered “Roti”, what if we get rice instead and they say “we call this roti”. Anyways, to our luck, “Roti” was a “Roti”. In the middle of food, we ordered for more Roti, the waiter, Mr Ali, very frankly said, “it might take 2 minutes or maybe half and hour, you know weekends are really busy”. Talking about the food, they boast “Authentic Indian” cuisine on their website. Believe me, I’m an Indian from North India, and have lived in Lucknow and Delhi (famous for their foods), and I can safely bet that the Bangladeshi takeaways in UK which label themselves as “Indian” prepare better food than Akbar’s. I think the chefs at Akbar’s are either British or European who have no idea whatsoever of what “Indian Cuisine” is.
I may sound very frustrated with this long review, but I seriously feel this place is not worth a visit - the ambience, food, the service and everything...

The food is a hit in here. It's usually really good. Having said that, good luck receiving any kind of tolerable service in this place if it is busy. The staff cannot cope with a full house work load.
Please consult your staff on coordination for busier times, or better yet, onboard more! Otherwise, the meal is just a mess of service - our drinks came towards the end of our starters (close to half an hour after placing the drinks order), our naan half way through our mains, and two of the mains were served cold. After asking for these to be warmed up, they came back cold again.
This has unfortunately happened on a couple of occasions now, both when you were coincidentally experiencing a full house. I can see the disdain on the tables around us, it shows as clear as day, in ironically what is a very dimly lit restaurant.
And please, just can the music - especially if you're ripping the aux cord out after every happy birthday song causing loud static to play through out the restaurant. Your staff are there to provide a food service, not to faff with your audio equipment.
I want to love this place as I once have done in the past, but you're...
