Frog & Parrot — Restaurant in Sheffield

Aggressive manager. This incident was a couple of years ago now but felt it necessary to voice my concern over the manager's aggression towards us. We weren't being disruptive or abusive. Without warning, he pinned me up against the wall by the neck without provocation as we were trying to leave and subsequently after complaining he hit my friend across the head while in the street outside the pub.

Response to the Manager's Response: My recent activity is due to me only just discovering your previous response regarding my stealing of a crutch which is a complete fabrication and probably an attempt to distract from your actions that night... or you are mistaking me with someone else. I was sat at the same table all evening and simply went between there and the bar twice. Nothing more. Thus far I have been avoiding writing a long review purely because of the effort involved but the shear audacity of the manager to spread flagrant lies when in fact I was assaulted that evening leads me to write a more detailed account of events. I think people should know what kind of person manages this establishment. We were enjoying our evening and joined in the pub quiz. At 11:45 we went to the bar to order one last round and asked whether we had time for one more - the bar staff said we had 45 minutes as they were closing at 12:30. Despite being told we had 45 minutes, after 10 minutes we were told to drink up. We sped up our drinking. 5 minutes later we were asked to leave and two of the bar staff ushered us out. I took my drink with me thinking at least then they can clean the table and get ready to close while I finish my drink standing up. I was ushered into the porch area to the side of the pub with the two people I was with. As I walked into the porch the Manager, Nick Simmonite, grabbed my neck, pinned me against the wall and shouted. It was completely out of the blue, I wasn't saying anything or being in any way aggressive. He grabbed my hand holding the glass and tipped the beer on the floor. I was completely taken aback and didn't really know what had hit me. My friends were shouting at him from the outside (something to the effect of "you can't do that, he didn't do anything") to which Nick Simmonite's response was to smack one of them round the head (with a palm not fist) knocking his hat off. As to coming in for a coffee, Nick, you offered that to me when this happened in the aftermath of this horrible event. I did come back to see you and did have a tea. Maybe you don't remember but we sat down and to shorten the discussion I ended up asking to see the CCTV footage I know you have set up in the porch to which you refused.

After this I did strongly consider referring you to the police but decided against it purely because it would be very difficult to prosecute. After-all it would be my word against yours unless the CCTV were made available. I am sure you would undoubtedly 'lose' this before the police could take it as evidence.

Please I urge people to stay away...

Service poor, communication between one another poor, about an intolerance (not allergy, just a mere intolerance) overall resulting in management becoming defensive with customer rather than helpful. When I asked for a dip on the side for the 3rd time I was informed by the manager that I had told some one else to remove this from the plate, defensively yet again over something quite small, which was the last straw for me. For me to have to explain to said manager “actually what was said was xxx” is very petty and could have been handled a lot better and avoided. Was going to stay for more drinks but would rather go to a different pub. Atmosphere was let down for this however did not rank them down in stars for this. As an upside, for a green king with many bought in ready made products, food was overall not bad! Squid I thought would be very over cooked but was cooked well, steak was a flat iron steak which ideally should be advised to the customer on menu, best cooked medium rare. - sadly we ordered medium rare but received well done. we did not want to let them know this however when they gave a check back, as we did not want to receive another defensive and confrontational scenario, we did let the girl know working that of no fault of her own we felt this way; uncomfortable to...

Fuming!!!! Myself and my family and friends were out yesterday for a bottomless brunch for a birthday celebration. We called in to the frog and parrot for a drink afterwards. We were all in high spirits with it still being the holiday season and in a relaxed happy mood. We all got to the bar where the manager was stood behind and a young guy. Some of us started ordering our drinks. One member of our party of ten was queuing behind and decide to start singing a 1980s rick Ashley song. A few of us joined in and were enjoying ourselves. Unfortunately the Manager who had glasses and a pointed beard didn't take to us enjoying ourselves. This is where the Manager told us all we had to check our eyes and our eyes were POPPING!!! We were all absolutely fuming and wanted him to explain why he would accuse us of this. He was ignorant and extremely rude. We were absolutely gobsmacked at his accusations. There were a party of ten that could have put alot of money behind the bar to go to the owners, Greens King. I hope you are ashamed of yourself Manager of The Frog and Parrot in Sheffield and all ten of us will be taking...
