I absolutely love the vibe in this place super cosy and chill on rainy day. The food was amazing super creative and interesting. I've enjoyed it every time I've come in.
However sadly I won't be attending this place again unless they accept cash or bank transfer. I was lucky I had friends with me who payed on their card, and then I had to bank transfer to them.....
I don't live in Sheffield and my card is broken, my address is parents house 2hr drive away which I'm not doing to pick up my new card. Cash is my only way of paying for things at this current moment of time. And to be honest such an eye opening experience. We need to keep cash alive..which means doing things about it... And actually using.... Cash!
If it wasn't for my cash I had in my wallet when my card broke 2weeks ago. Id have been screwed. No way of paying for anything... Fuel for my car... Food.. And my car got poorly and needed michanical help.. Luckily I had 200£ in cash that I could get it fixed... Not to mention homeless people don't have bank accounts because they don't have adress...
Also In past had an experience when card didn't have enough funds on and needed to transfer from other account to card was paying with. And then my phone didn't work...so no way of getting onto my bank account to do this... So I couldn't pay.
We rely so much on technology and phones.. Internet... Contact less cards. And if our phones and Internet die we can't access our money?
Naah this lazy contactless digital cashless world...
Read moreVisited for the first time today at around 11:00am. Ordered Sausage and hash brown muffin and a latte. Can't say I was too impressed as the 'small' breakfast muffin was dry (no offer of sauces by the waitress) and I would say no better than a McMuffin in my opinion. The sausage meat was like a patty with not much flavour. Latte was also of a small size which at £3, I thought was expensive (in a paper cup and plastic lid) ! Outside only seating too in a yard where almost all the white tables were puddled with water (as it had rained earlier) and not wiped down so sat at a bench. The girl who served me, dumped the latte on my table without eye contact, a word or acknowledgement, and rushed off as I said thank you to her back. Maybe she was having a bad day or unaware of the impression it gave to customers but not very welcoming or friendly IMO. More like a fast food chain attitude. Not sure...
Read moreI wasn't sure about Gaard in the early days, but their helpful and somewhat attractive staff, tasty treats and grade A coffee have really sucked me in. Gaard is a daily trip for me now and to say it is a vital cog in the Kelham Island machine is an understatement. To be honest, I'm thinking of selling my children to fund 'This Way To Gaard Coffee Hide' signs to enlighten the other coffee drinkers of Sheffield.
Anybody who posts anything other than 5 stars for this gem of a business is a liar...A dirty, stinking liar...Who I will fight at a time and place of their choosing...Seriously, I'll take you on in the train station, at the Town Hall, in Endcliffe Park, at Meadowhall, on the Parkway, I don't care, bring a knife if you want...
So, yeah, make time to visit this lovely Kelham...
