With all the fantasising and anticipation, we assumed the reality of our wedding day could never measure up to the expectation. We were wrong. It was in fact the best day of our lives, surpassing every lofty expectation, and we owe so much of that to the fabulous team at the Mowbray and Chimney House.

From the very moment we got in touch we were relaxed in the knowledge we were evidently in very safe hands. The communication was top notch and every query, question or musing was dealt with promptly and professionally. On the day, the staff were warm, friendly and hospitable and every detail was incredibly well coordinated - everything went off without a hitch.

The romance at the venue is totally palpable, helped by the building’s fantastic bones and beautiful styling. It poured it down on our big day so we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be cosy inside, swaddled by candle light.

The food was such a highlight of the day and received incredibly high praise from all of our guests. We loved the long tables, heaving with sharing plates which made the experience feel both wonderfully relaxed and decedent.

We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our wedding. Everyone tells you that planning a wedding might be stressful, but I can honestly say that the Mowbray made much of the planning a piece of cake. Lucy and the team dealt with all of our requests in the lead-up to the big day with kindness and professionalism, and pre-empted everything we might need on the day itself, from keeping me warm and dry when waiting up in the cabin before our ceremony started to supporting our guests with their needs. One of the reasons that we originally picked the Mowbray was the food (which surpassed expectations), but there are so many other reasons I could list as to why it is now a space that we will love forever. It's a stunning, romantic and dramatic venue for a winter wedding, and it's no wonder that more than one of our suppliers commented on how much they love working with the Mowbray team. We can’t recommend enough the Chimney House and the Mowbray and all of the teams there. We had our wedding ceremony at the Chimney House before a rooftop cocktail reception, dinner and dancing at the Mowbray in June 2024. From the very beginning and throughout the process the team were incredibly communicative, attentive and supportive, helping us with recommendations for suppliers from flowers to our evening DJ, accommodating a ceremony rehearsal a couple of days before, and coordinating everything so that in the lead-up we felt totally reassured.
