Alder — Restaurant in Sheffield

Visited Alder in the evening this week, lovely drinks and cool atmosphere! Unfortunately this was spoilt by a rather grumpy staff member. A friend of ours was trapped in the toilet (apparently something that happens frequently according to other customers) and I asked a female staff member if she would be able to help us. The staff member was patronising to me, telling me “if you would let me finish dragging this bucket across the floor first that would be great”. There was also some other words when I asked her if she worked at Alder to the effect of “is it not obvious?”. I asked her if she could please not speak to me like this as I was just trying to find help for my friend and did not expect her to drop every task straight away, and she began to shout at me about how she worked there. Other customers stopped their conversations and were looking. When she did arrive in the toilet to help her attitude to helping us made me feel very uncomfortable and my associates commented on this too. I feel very disappointed as this was my first time visiting alder but I do not expect to be shouted at by a staff member at any establishment I am paying my money to. Sadly we will not...

Great bar in the Kelham Island area. The beer garden is huge and gets plenty of sun, when it's not raining! They're dog friendly (as most places in Kelham) and they have a great selection of beers/ales/IPAs which are always being rotated.

The staff are great and always friendly. They do a quiz every week (on a Weds, I think) which is always popular. You need to book a table if you want to take part because it is so popular.

The only downside is the temperature inside the pub. Sometimes during the colder months it's not very warm inside the pub and I usually have to sit there in my coat, which isn't the most comfortable. Overall though, a great bar and I highly...

We hired Alder Bar for my 60th Birthday Gathering and had a fantastic evening. During the organisation of the evening, Joe was very helpful, professional and always easy to contact. Nothing was too much trouble. On the evening itself the Staff were fantastic and despite there being a lot of people the bar ran very smoothly and quickly. The venue itself is very quirky with a lot of history to the building. We hired a DJ who was brilliant and there was plenty of room for dancing. There are food options too.
