Came for breakfast as it was convenient for where we were staying in Sheffield. If I had known how rubbish it was going to be, I would have said to my boyfriend and his child I wanted to go somewhere else, however we were pressed for time. We were seated upstairs on chairs that weren't really suitable for an 8yo nor myself with a fybromyalgia as the other table was reserved. We were finally given menus and brought water however the glass I was given was filthy.
It then took 10 mins to get a servers attention to get the dirty glass swapped, with no apology. Finally after about 20 mins we managed to place orders and coffee eventually arrived. However when it arrived, it arrived as a shot in a cup with a broken cafietere of water, that I and my boyfriend nearly scalded ourselves on. It then took another 5 mins for fresh hot water to arrive, thus making our coffee far too bitter to drink.
The food well, all I can say was it smelt good being cooked however did not live up to expectations. The beans were disgusting (in future please stick to normal baked beans, not what those were), the egg was not even cooked properly on the yolk and proper crispy potatoes, as these were anything but crispy and quite frankly not that nice. The only good part were the sausages. The toast was undercooked and cold being served and the bacon far too fatty and salty.
There was green garnish all over my food which is not supposed to be on a breakfast in the slightest. The 8YO was able to adapt the breakfast as he doesn't like certain foods (understandable) however we were charged £13.50 for half the items on the plate and he took one mouthful of the beans, declared them the "worst ever" and refused to eat any more of his breakfast as it was ruined in his eyes as the disgusting beans and green garnish had touched his food. There is no child menu, which is a bit silly considering it is supposed to be family friendly.
Suffice to say we were charged over £50 for this really poor experience for three (well two and a bit) full breakfasts, two coffees and a strawberry milksake, and I and the 8yo will especially not be coming back! If we were not so pressed for time, the food would have been sent back with a massive complaint...
Read moreThis has to be one of the best places I have ever been for food. First off, the atmosphere was incredible. I was greeted so warmly and friendly and given a spot downstairs. The entire time I was there (Over an hour as they were so welcoming and hospitable) I witnessed every single person who came in, sat down, served, being given amazing friendly sevice. It seem to come natural to the guys working here as well, nothing was forced or too much trouble for anyone. Throughout my lunch, I was speaking to the staff and asked for help with place to visit in Sheffield, what to do etc. They listened and chatted to me which was such friendly service and went a long way.
Anyway, food. As I sat down, I was brought over water (which was replaced/topped up across my whole visit) I ordered the 'Ole' but asked for potatoes in it as well, which of course they told me wasn't a problem. I also ordered an aperol spritz. The food came out, in a big skillet and look amazing. It was so hot, I was also warned to not touch the skillet as it was red hot, so I dipped the bread in to begin with and oh my gosh it was possible one of the nicest things I've ever eaten. The chorizo, mozzerella, beans and cream all mixed together to create a fantastic fusion of flavour and spice. The egg on the top was such a bonus and really complemented the food. The bread was a big door stop piece, that was ridiculously soft and delicious.
I can not recommend this place, the food, the atmosphere and lastly the staff higher. I even got the rest of my meal to take away so will be finishing...
Read moreI had breakfast on a Sunday morning with friends from out of the city (but Sheffielder's). One of them suggested it and what a good suggestion it was.
I had the Andy Hash a vegetarian option. Potato, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese topped with a fried egg and served with a nice wedge of bread and butter. I also had an Americano.
The meal was really, really tasty. The sort of breakfast I could eat everyday. No complaints at all. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the ingredients. I did not like the coffee though. I do need to find our what they used because it's the second time I have had the same blend (in the Light Cinema) which leaves a 'beef" aftertaste. Maybe it's me.
My fellow diners had a variety of other dishes, all were enjoyed, especially the full English which one friend described as fully stacked!
The member of staff that served us was great. Displayed patience while we all decided and even made sure we got our order in before the influx of customers did. 👍
Judging by the number of people arriving after our party, this may have already become a go to place for breakfast.
I say, give it a go, sit outside in the morning sunshine and enjoy a nice relaxing breakfast...
