Quite possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Arrived in town for work and just needed food. Dropped in and they said they were full booked despite having about 2/3s if the tables free. Nonetheless they pulled out a table for me to accommodate. Fair enough. The table was sticky ajd uncleaned, disgusting. No one cleaned it. It was shimmering it was so sticky n was so wobbly I'd consider it a hazard. A couple came in and were turned away as they were apparently fully booked ut plenty of spaces. If I was the owner here, I'd be livid! As a management consultant, I can imagine they're losing literally hundreds of pounds a week from walk ins they could take if only they effectively managed their booking system to scatter and time their table allocation. Girl who served me was pleasant but the lad kept glancing at me and giving me daggers for some reason which made me feel uncomfortable.
Now the food. I had pulled pork and it was 80% tasteless. I bit into a large piece of bone and a tendon. This is apparently hand pulled but they didn't see the bone and tendon? That's a hazard in pulled pork which u expect to be boneless. Portion was mediocre. It came on a large piece of bread which was very soggy. I also had a diet Pepsi but it was bland so I think it's a roll cola type beverage. And very overpriced drinks menu.
I've actually text my girlfriend and said it's the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. I'm 34 years old. I've had a few.
I didn't complain. I paid my £20 and left. Decor inside is nice, servers seem pleasant depending who you get. I said goodbye as I left and the people ignored me. Maybe they didn't hear me, maybe that's just sheffield?
I dont know. Its not a zero out of five but its a well deserved...
Read morecame to meet up with a bunch of friends on Friday night for food. And we had the child in tow with us. From the start the greeter gave us a friendly heads up that they were a couple of staff members down that evening and there might be a bit of a delay in seating/serving us.
However they managed to find seats for the three of us and quickly got our drinks ordered so we could catch up with our friends, and even though there was no room at our friends table (there was 20 of them) Abby quickly cleaned a table next to them and sat us there so we could have some space but still interact with our friend group.
Abby then got our food orders in quick so that we could beat the rush of our friends ordering and get the little one fed. Our food came quickly, it was piping hot and didn't last long as it was so good, and we were all honestly quite hungry. The little one also really enjoyed mixing his flavours of ice cream for his afters (us adults had no room) and before we could ask for more water, the jug was refreshed.
Abby literally went above and beyond for us on Friday and she is totally a credit to your team. So much so, as I rarely tip, I gave her a tenner as she'd totally earned it. It's also nice to know that I get my Blue Light discount in there too.
The only thing missing on our table was some popcorn to snack on, however in hindsight, I'm glad there wasn't as I might have burst with the portion sizes of our sharing platter!
Smoke is a firm favourite of ours when we are in Sheffield and this was our 2nd visit. We will deffo be back next time we are in Sheffield as even the little one loved it!
Keep up the...
Read moreSo firstly, the place is very nice looking but sadly style over substance. Our server was great but sadly the people in the kitchen are the ones here not doing a good Job. Firstly we asked our server if we could swap out our chips for one of the other same price point sides as we are not big chip lovers with bbq. According to the kitchen staff he asked, this was not possible. Not even a paid upgrade, So bad taste in my mouth straight away. Next onto the food.
My wife had the pork belly , which wasn't even slightly smoked, and I ordered the philly cheese steak , which if you have ever had one this was beyond an insult to one. I didn't want a philly cheese steak, but this was one of the only options without chips ( I could request no chips if I wanted but I would still be charged full for the plate, and to get the side I wanted would gave cost me over 25 pound for a no doubt sub par cheeseburger so i went with the philly) .
I also ordered fralepenos which I order whenever I get the chance. These (much like the philly) were not frallepenos. I ate maybe 3 before I gave up the raste of unchanged fryer oil and awful taste of "my first attemt at making a batter" was too much.
Our server was great. He was apologetic and he gave us a lovely discount . We wanted to leave him a tip but it was sadly shared with the kitchen so we didn't. He was good at his job. They were not so we did not want to leave any money that was not going directly to him.
All in all we was going to bring a large party back for a friend's birthday. I'm really glad we wasted 40 quid up front so they won't be disapointed. Avoid...
