Without a doubt the Steam Packet is the best pub in Dartmouth, only hampered by not being in Dartmouth.
If you're romantic and patience is with you then it's so worth a foot passenger trip across the Dart on the iconic lower ferry to reach this fantastic pub. Unless of course you're already in Kingswear when a ferry crossing would unnecessarily expend valuable drinking time.
It's certainly worth ringing ahead to secure a place as whilst blessed with buckets of character and warmth it is certainly not blessed with a gargantuan size, and it's all the better for it.
The team at the Steam Packet are friendly and welcoming, and have adapted to the post - covid world with excellent service and speedy at table drink fetching.
There's a selection of mezze style starters and a range of pizzas available plus changing specials to add variety.

The pizzas are superb and the beers are well kept. Special mention had to be made for the staff who were always busy and rushed off their feet but were always friendly and helpful and happy to chat. You felt like a valued customer not just another tourist passing through. The seating is lovely and cosy inside with more of a restaurant feel upstairs and then the upper outdoor seating area is perfect in the sun. A real gem which has been lovingly upgraded and is a perfect stopover for a beer with spectacular views of the marina, the steam railway and over towards Dartmouth. Don't pass this by, it is a very...

I appreciate they were busy but I got the feeling a solo diner was the last of their cares. So I left. As I said I appreciate they were busy but it seemed like upstairs dining was all down to one young man and there was too much...
