First of all I will start by saying we have been several times to this pub for a drink and the staff are always attentive and friendly and the place itself is quite a pleasant place to sit and overlook the harbour over to Tynemouth . We were told by a friend that the food was supposed to be nice so we decided to go for a nightout have a few drinks and a bite to eat . From the menu we chose what is classed as a sharing platter of Dirty Fries with the extra pulled chicken or pork (we chose the chicken at £3 extra I think and a cheesy garlic bread . I am not a large eater but when the bowl of dirty fries came out we could not believe how small it was considering the cost was £6.95 and to be totally honest the amount of pulled chicken was minimal . To satisfy our hunger we had to order another portion . The cheesy garlic bread normal price in most restaurants is around £3 actually cost us £6.95 also . Please dont get me wrong the food tasted ok but no way was it worth the prices for what we payed , and I am sure anyone would agree that a sharing platter should be substantial enough for two people which certainly was not the case especially with my small appetite . What I would like to suggest is that you have a nice pub in a great little spot but you should really lower your prices or give larger portions which is what people really want especially for a sharing platter . I hope you take this as a constructive criticism and not a complaint as such because we would still like to return as customers but not unfortunately for any eats unless things...

We last came here for a Sunday roast, and it was amazing. Things have changed though. Everything we had was overcooked and bland. The potato skin starter is fantastic, and I should have stopped there. The last time I had the belly pork, it was a long strip with probably the best skin I had ever had on pork belly. This time, all of ours were almost inedible. Three people got the chicken and it was very dry. It was like sawdust in the middle. Two people got the beef and it was very difficult to even cut. The veg were very bland and overcooked. There was some carrot mush thing that was not great. I would rather have smaller portions of very good food than a lot of overcooked bland food. I know a lot of people in the UK like their food like this and cook like this, so you might love it if that's your style. The place is also extremely hot, like uncomfortably hot. The service, however is fantastic. All the waitresses worked very hard and provide...

Great pleasant pub that serves good selection of beers, wines etc. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and food is excellent. Not a regular pub l visit but when l am in town and fancy a good tasty meal with good atmosphere and lovely views then this is the place l go. Always greeted with a smile and never have to wait long for a nice cold pint. Food is worth waiting for as l am told the cook is a 5 star chef and you can tell once you taste your meal absolutely scrumptious. Sunday dinners are almost always fully booked so need to book in advance unless your lucky and someone's cancelled. It's handy location means you can go for a stroll along beach or through the parks to burn off them unwanted calories or work up an apatite before your meal. Overall highly recommended and worth a visit. 😁👍P. S my niece enjoying the views on the Canon...

Well what can I say! This place is absolutely amazing. The staff were brilliant. We were shown you our table and given menus. Then asked if we would like drinks, these were brought very quickly. We were then informed of the specials board. There was so much to choose from, they gave us a little longer to decide. I decided on lobster salad and my husband had the roast which was pork. Due to the price for the lobster salad I was expecting some lobster meat along the salad. When it arrived it was a full lobster. It was amazing. When worked out how to crack it open it was wonderful. The roast pork was well cooked and served with a very large Yorkshire pudding mash and a large bowl of vegetables. The staff we very polite and helpful. The harbour lights inn is a place you must visit and next time we visit this area we will return

Another beautiful meal at the revamped Harbour Lights. Micheal and the chefs have brought this pub back to life and a big well done to all. A great asset for the Lawe Top. We had homemade fish cakes for starters, Mrs B had the monkfish curry and I had the Gurnard in a cajun sauce. All the fish are sourced from North Shields fish Qua and can differ each day. The service was excellent polite and welcoming. The venue was busy and walk-ins arewelcome. We would recommend booking a table especially on a Sunday when it is very busy. I have added some photos of our roast dinner from a previous visit. We highly recommend this gastro pub. We'll done Michael and staff.
