I recently visited this restaurant , expecting a pleasant dining experience based on its reputed reviews on google . Unfortunately, my visit was marred by a deeply disappointing encounter with the staff, who treated me poorly based on my nationality. I believe that this restaurant is not even worth give one star .Upon arrival, I was initially ignored by the host. When I finally managed to get their attention, I was met with a cold, dismissive attitude. We were forced to seat on the table by the choice of the restaurant staff, despite the restaurant being completely empty .
The situation worsened once I was seated. The waiter assigned to my table was incredibly rude and dismissive. When I attempted to ask about the menu, I was met with curt responses and a clear lack of interest in assisting me. My attempts to engage in polite conversation were met with disdainful looks and condescending remarks. It was evident that my nationality played a role in the treatment I received, as I observed other diners being treated with the utmost courtesy and respect on there arrival in the restaurant.
Despite all of these we placed an order for drinks but the behaviour of the duty manager was very rude towards us .Therefore we decided not to order food in the restaurant as we where not being treated very will , so we told the waiter to get us the bill for the drinks as we where not happy about the atmosphere of the restaurant.
It’s disheartening to see such discrimination in what should be a welcoming environment. A restaurant should be a place where all guests feel valued and respected, regardless of their background.I am a professional hotelier,I have been working in hospitality industry for past 5 years .The restaurants manager is abusing and insulting the guest is not at all corrects ,he is making personal comments your nationality.I mean that not fair for any guest ,You can’t be RACIST towards anyone .There should be zero tolerance for racism and I hope the restaurant management addresses this issue promptly and ensures that no other guest has to endure such treatment. Upon our arrival, we found ourselves at a loss when perusing the menu due to a lack of vegetarian options. We decided not to order any food items and communicated this to our server. Shortly after, we were approached by another staff member who informed us, with what we perceived as an arrogant demeanor, that we had to vacate our table within 10 minutes due to an upcoming reservation.
After settling the bill for our drinks, I noticed a discrepancy in the amount charged versus the amount listed on the handwritten VAT receipt. The receipt indicated a total of £15.30, yet the charge was £15.70. This minor overcharge, while not substantial, is concerning and prompts me to question the integrity of the billing process.
Furthermore, during our departure, we overheard a staff member making inappropriate comments regarding my race. Such behavior is deeply troubling and entirely unacceptable in any setting, especially within the hospitality industry.
In light of these events, I would like to pose the following questions to your management team:
Why was there an additional charge of £0.40 not accounted for on the VAT receipt? If there was a pending reservation for our table, why were we seated there in the first place? The remark made by your staff member about serving ‘original customers’ was quite unsettling. Could you please clarify who is considered an ‘original customer’ at your establishment? Given the treatment we received, which starkly contrasts the positive reviews online, how do you ensure the authenticity of the ratings posted on Google? To my shock this bad attitude towards the customer was conducted by the manager himself in front of his staff and other customers. The manager rushed us to decide on giving the drink orders. We were a party of 5 and me and my two other friends being vegetarian, we found that the vegetarian options were very limited. Due to which we were hesitant to place our food orders. We expressed our concern to the staff member and the manager as well but instead of helping us out with the menu, the manager again rushed us to order the food. Upon which we decided we wont be eating there. We stated the manager that we will be only having our drinks and will be leaving once our drinks are finished. The manager upon which he said to leave in 10 minutes because he has another table coming. He quickly went to get us the bill and asked us to pay. The whole restaurant was empty except one table. The manager in front of those customers stated that he wont be serving people from my race anymore to his staff. He also mentioned that we were not his real customers which was to us quite shocking. The whole attitude changing just because we don’t want to eat there due to our dietary restrictions took us aback. We also paid for our drinks. So we don’t know what the manager was upset about.
