Fireaway Pizza Southampton — Restaurant in Southampton

Came here becoz of the lunch time deal as advertised on instagram. Went to ask the staff to see if it is still on cuz no date was stated on the IG post, and he said it’s still on. But he went on and charged me £9.99 instead, which when I asked he said the deal was already over. This basically false advertising and scamming.

The staff weren’t nice at all, grumpy and quite quite impolite too. I’m not blaming him at all, because he is trying to push away customers to avoid more orders. Why? Becoz there is only one staff at the restaurant doing basically everythg from ordering, stretching the pizza, adding toppings etc (with no washing hands in between).

I was warned that he was busy and may take a 15 mins wait. So the 180 seconds pizza as advertised took 40 minutes instead. And there were only 8 customers at that time. Ppl from another table had to change their order to take away becoz of the long waiting time.

Food itself is as advertised, a nice stone baked pizza. But pretty sure you can get the same somewhere else with better service. The dough is great, but it is disappointingly drenched with cheese, making it salty & greasy.

I was gonna give this place a one star, but added another star becoz the staff was nice and apologetic to customers after u placed the order (or after he failed to shoo u away with ‘intentional bad service’) and I feel bad for him working under so much stress...

UPDATE: About an hour after leaving this review, the manager gave me a call and apologised for the inconvenience and said that the worker I spoke to handled this wrong and assured me I would get a refund and begged me to give them a chance in the future with a free order on them. I was hesitant about that offer but wanted the refund for a pizza I couldn't eat and was promised it would happen. Before he hung up, he asked me to remove the review which gave me the impression it was a bribe. I said I wouldn't remove it but I would update it on how it is handled further. Two weeks later, no refund therefore an update 👍

I also contacted their head office and nothing.

Always love their pizzas but I ordered a vegan pizza tonight and there was a stray bit of ham which I unlucky bit into without seeing. Called the restaurant and got told they could make me another pizza, however, I hardly want a pizza from a company that have poor cross contamination. I asked for a refund for a pizza that I cannot eat, and baring in mind I chewed ham unwillingly for the first time in 8 years. Was told no, they cannot authorise a refund for my pizza and they can only give me a free one?...
