This bar is severely understaffed. It was a very busy Saturday night and there was only one waitress dealing with two parties that had a total of over ,30 people. Food took a long time to be brought out. You had no way of asking questions as the one and only waitress was busy in the kitchen. So for a long you were just left waiting. Ordering drinks was not explained to us when we first and there was no obvious signage to scan the small QR code to o see drinks. There is only 1 ,QR code per table which meant the one person sat closest to it ended up scanning the code for everyone.
Drinks also took a long time, so there was not enough staff on the bar as well as on the tables.
I made it clear on the emails that I had an dairy allergy. On arrival the waitress discussed the allergy with me. My starter and main meal were fine.. my main being brought out first to avoid any confusion.
However when it came to the pudding this was the let down. Myself and a friend had ordered the only vegan option. When it was brought out there were white chocolate chips scattered all over it. We questioned this and it was taken back. We were then told that the recipe had been changed (we had only put in the order a few days prior) and they couldn't say if it was vegan. There was no mention of this change in the emails or when we had arrived. Instead we were offered jelly or an ice lolly.
The starters and the mains however were pretty good and everyone enjoyed them. They were all good portions.
The m live entertainment was very enjoyable too. And the price for the meal was great. The lack of awareness of the food and the understaffing was the...
Read moreWe booked and paid arrowsmiths interactive darts. 2pm on a Thursday so the whole bar was not very busy. They told us they didn’t have enough staff to open the darts area upstairs (modern, large private booth each - so we were put on the only one downstairs which is right by the kitchen serving hatch and disabled toilet. The disabled toilet was in near constant use, and every time someone came out, the door was left wide open, so we were playing darts next to the toilet. One gentleman even decided to use the toilet with the door wide open - charming. It seemed most regulars use the disabled toilet instead of walking upstairs. This was evidenced by a number of people realising it was locked (I pushed it shut every time someone came out) and then just walking to the upstairs toilet. Despite the bar being huge and quiet, a guy from the kitchen came and sat directly behind us to eat his lunch, and the bar staff came around collecting glasses, which frequently made us stop playing. We pressed the call service button for drinks - surprise surprise nobody came and we then had to stop and go to the bar (you are paying for 90 minutes darts so want to get the most out of it) We made our concerns known when we left and the girl behind the bar theatrically rolled her eyes and couldn’t care less. 2 others were stood behind the bar staring but didn’t apologise, just smirked. Considering all 3 were stood doing nothing, it’s surprising they could t have opened the normal darts...
Read moreWe went in there for a bottle of wine and a bite to eat but walked out with nothing after receiving attitude from the Manager. As soon as we sat down we were asked to move because the whole area was going to be reserved for a Party of 75, Children, which we didn't mind but it could have been done a little more tactfully and also appreciate we had walked into a but not a kinder garden, but we let that one slide but when it came to ordering our food I was informed that I couldn't have a burger as it was now reserved for the party who were due later, I was told all burgers were reserved and they were now only offering a limited menu. I have heard of tables being reserved but not food as I always thought it was first come first served, again this was told to me in an off hand manner and the Manager was quiet clearly stressing about coping with this party and appeared to be making unwise choices. Not at any time were were there any apologies for the inconvenience and seemed that our business no longer mattered to him. My Girlfriend and her family have used the Spitfire in Southampton a lot but wont now due to the Managers attitude, will not be attending again and I wont use this venue again. That Manager clearly needs training in how to be professional to everyone not a select few. To post I had to click the one star which it did not...
