Something changed and it wasn’t for the best. I want to make it clear, we loved overdraft prior, this was the only place where you recieved quality food whilst enjoying a decent marg. The food is still fine however it doesn’t compare to the old menu by a mile. The new versions of each taco seem dry and appear skimped on in portion sizing. Somehow even with adding guac and habanero mayo, each bite of taco left us more dry than we were before. It appears everything sauce-wise has been let down by oil, specifically the birria consommé which is disappointing and unappetising compared to before. I won’t go on further about the remainder which we ordered as it appears all the same, under-seasoned, genuinely nothing appeared to have salt, as well as this, portions are cut down for the same price. Nacho cheese has also been removed as a side and we feel that’s sad. We will still keep coming for beveraginos as well as the vibe, however, begging, please revert to the previous menu or introduce an in-between packed with flavour and memories. This is what we crave. You had an amazing thing and we don’t understand where this has gone. We still love you, this is reviewed with kindness. The photos added are the before and after. Also the before is within the last year, it still appears delicious and would be to many, but it just is...
Read moreGreat beer selection, which would be good on its own - by the food? I’d come here again for the food on its own.
The tacos are beautifully presented and if you’re thinking about portion sizes, 3 tacos each and share a chips between two is fine. That makes it about £16 a head, which for this freshly produced treat is very reasonable.
For me, the tempura fish tacos were out of this world. The batter and fish give texture and volume to the salsa flavours that accompany the fish- they are perfect. I used to like fish tacos at whacca, but honestly, these are in a different league.
Looking forward to going back and trying the frijoles vegan tacos.
Service was great at the bar and from the serving staff too.
I see it’s got decks set up, so guess the weekends could be lively. Great to see this pub get a new lease of life - in what has become Southampton’s Craft Ale quarter.
Oh, another review said it was a bit nippy here - well, it was minus 5 outside so none of the pubs were exactly roasting. I thought Overdraft was fine and as I’ve said, food was top notch. Well done to the staff who run this pub - you’re doing...
Read moreThis used to be one of our favourite spots, but our latest visit was a complete let-down.
We waited over 50 minutes for food, only to be told at the last minute that they’d actually run out of chicken — one of the main dishes we had ordered. On top of that, the cauliwings we ordered never arrived. When we asked about them, instead of receiving an apology or any effort to put things right, the receipt was shoved in our face and we were told we hadn’t paid for them. The mistake was clearly on the server who took the order, yet the way it was handled was rude, dismissive, and frankly arrogant.
Overall, the slow service, lack of communication, and the shockingly unprofessional attitude from staff left us really disappointed — especially as this used to be a place we enjoyed and...
