Fold restaurant in Marple Bridge offers an unforgettable dining experience, where British seasonal sharing plates take center stage with a tantalizing blend of multi-cultural influences and nods to North West nostalgia. Last Friday, our party of four indulged in an exceptional meal, leaving us with memories of delightful flavors and impeccable service. From the moment we entered, the ambiance set the stage for an evening of culinary exploration. We were fortunate to have been allocated the table nearest the Chef's kitchen which meant we could see each dish being expertly crafted with attention to detail & each dish we tried was bursting with freshness. The sharing concept fostered an atmosphere of camaraderie, enhancing our dining experience as we savored every bite together. Fold restaurant is truly a gem in Marple Bridge, the service from the front of house team was superb, matched equally by the flare and hardwork of the Chef and all his team. It was especially nice touch that the owner came across and took the time out on a very busy night to chat with the four of us and gauge feedback on our first visit to his excellent restaurant. In a nutshell, Fold offers a culinary journey and relaxed ambience that celebrates British cuisine while embracing global inspiration without being in the least pretentious! Our evening there was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving us eager to return for more culinary adventures. Thanks again to all the team at Fold Bistro...
Read moreWe tried Fold for the first time a couple of weeks ago and left wanting more. More because it was brilliant but also more because after almost £140 (including a few drinks which were delicious) we were still a little hungry. So was it worth it? Well, the welcome and service throughout was top notch, with the perfect amount of chat to feel noticed and get a feel for the place but not too much to feel uncomfortable from a lovely man called Logan who looked after us well. The atmosphere was pleasant, with enough people to feel a buzz but spaced out enough and quiet enough to enjoy. The menu and drinks were well explained in a way that didn’t feel pretentious but interesting. We had 6 plates between us and each was delicious and brought out on its own with enough time to enjoy and rest after, before the next plate, and with a short description of the flavours. We were never left without a drink and never waited too long for a waiters attention. So yes, it was worth every penny and we returned after a disappointing experience at another local restaurant (serving bread and wine) for oysters last night (that my partner never usually enjoys but loves Folds’) and a cocktail. Definitely returning but will probably eat a little before we go to avoid spending so much, but if you’re willing to spend for great food and service Fold is definitely...
Read moreWe were really disappointed with our meal here, despite all the good reviews on here.
It’s been on our list to go since it opened and the food was just ok :( and it would have been fine if it wasn’t for the outrageous prices - £400+ (not including the tip) for 5 people to have lunch with 3 alcoholic drinks and 1 non alcoholic. For these type of prices for lunch we were expecting something amazing and I don’t think that’s ridiculous to say.
The food was beautiful I’ll give you that, as you see on the photos, and the halibut (in a sauce with samphire) was very good but that’s about it. Everything was under seasoned, and we were especially disappointed with the char siu pork which seemed like the pork had been boiled? (The lamb also taste weirdly watery)
The oysters were also extremely fishy, either cuz they were not fresh or the lardo+sauce made it very fishy, and I love a good oyster so this was quite sad to have started the meal with.
The place was also very cold It was a mild day and our whole table were freezing and no where near the door, so maybe layer up.
This has been a rather negative review on the food mainly, but I will say the service was lovely and seamless. So perhaps some more thought should be put...
