My friends and I came to this pub and as we were sat in an area of the pub, we were approached by a man who accosted us about āfoul languageā. He was very agressive and abusive towards us, grabbing my partner by the neck and threatening him. He told my partner he would ābreak his neckā, after telling us that āswearing was the precursor to violenceā. Before this, weād been sat in a section of the pub talking amongst ourselves and doing nothing to bother the other patrons. It was truly bizarre, frightening and hostile. Had the landlord made it clear that there was an issue with swearing when we walked in the door, we would have adhered to this rule. I wouldnāt recommend this pub to anyone as it is not a safe space to be in for anyone.
Edit: Extra pro tip: No one threatened the staff on the way out. We were shocked to be threatened in such a way by the staff in such an alarming fashion. Regardless, swearing does not warrant being choked or physically manhandled by anyone. This is assault as none of us ever laid a hand on any member of staff or clientele. I would like to reiterate that if there was a policy in this pub about swearing, it should be made clear on arrival, on the door of the pub and within the main areas of the pub. We would have happily complied with this directive if it was eminently clear. We recommend being transparent in your rules In order to avoid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had a couple of pints at the pub. Randomly the landlord (though we didnāt know it at the time) came over with a framed āno foul languageā sign - we questioned this and said we hadnāt known. He lost his temper and asked us to leave. We went to leave and the landlord grabbed our friend by the neck and pounded him on the chest saying āIāll break your neckā. I asked that we can just leave as this was in the doorway and was told youāre leaving although I couldnāt leave as my friend was being assaulted in the doorway. Very strange encounter coming after sitting there for an hour, very out of the blue and very aggressive. Not a good look.
Edit to respond: We did not threaten your staff, we were threatened and our friend was actually assaulted. If we understood your rules going in we would have respected them, donāt aggressively approach customers enjoying your pub after an hour of sitting as if we should have known. Iām also concerned we were approached by someone who wasnāt the landlord - maybe try to control your dad from assaulting customers...
