Gourmet Coffee Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent

The first time I went here, I had a good experience with a really nice flat white with oat milk and good service. Today couldn't have been more different. The staff initially ignored me, even though there were no more customers waiting and I was standing right next to them. I had to actually ask to order a coffee. The server didn't both telling me the price – just held her hand out of the money – and charged me 50p above the price stated price above. When I queried it she said that oat milk was extra but hadn't bothered explaining that before. Then she took the money and carried on filing in forms. I was waiting for a train that was due any minute, ffs. Some people really shouldn't be in the service industry. The other server made the coffee, which was ok, but nowhere near as nice as the one I'd had there previously. And it was pretty small for what amounted to nearly £4. Won't be bothering...

Apparently on occasions where the train station half isnt cordoned off properly customers are expected to possess psychic abilities and instinctively know they are not allowed to walk from the street entrance to the till. The server was polite enough to explain so no issues there but her colleague thought it best to talk across the room about how rude it was somehow? Surely if you see that the till is on the other side of the counter the common sense conclusion is that's where you go to order. I wouldn't have bothered writing the review but when a small group walked in and proceeded to the till side she accosted them asking "what do you think you are doing??" And to "have some respect!" Like what planet are you on?? Cordon it off...

Had a coffee whilst waiting for a train after a business meeting in August 2019. I was greeted with a polite welcome from staff, but it felt very cold as if being read from a card with no eye contact or glimpse of a smile. The place looked clean and tidy. I ordered a large latte, which pleasantly was indeed a good size as often measures are restricted in some coffee houses. I wasn’t asked if it was sit in or take away, so it came in a cup with lid, which is a shame as I had an hour to kill on the tables outside.
